Hey Guys, I need a little input here. I picked up this 32 5 window a few months back ,and have added a IFS coilover setup and bought the used grill shell seen in the pics. Its a pretty straight body with only minor bottom rust. Im afraid I may be in over my head. Any chance a project like this would sell as is? Im in it at 5 grand now. Your thoughts please?
Anyone who couln"t make a nice rod out of that should stick to golf or some other no mind p***time. If It tkes longer than a week to sell I'd be very surprised...unless it's on fire. Of course it will sell.I wish I lived clioser. A Canadian hotrod builder.
Id throw it up in the cl***ifieds section and see what happens. the IFS isnt trad, and im not sure of the cl***ified rules, but you can read them and decide. maybe search 32 chevys, and see what they're selling for? good luck.
I know this is not comparable but a 54 chevy fully restored and looking great just sold on me*** for $16000. I do hope u can recoup your dough.
That's not a Chevy... It looks like a '32 Pontiac. That's a '32 Pontiac firewall. Chevys have a different firewall, and the quarter windows are also more rounded on the lower rear corner.
Thanks Good Ol Boy, I was told it was either a chevy or a pontiac. It still has the factory VIN plate on the cowl, but I haven't cleaned it off to pull the numbers. Is the pic in your window a chevy 5 window?
FYI, the superride IFS is from welder joe on Ebay. I picked it up after buying one for my 32 Hiboy, and it was so nice for 1250, that I had to have it for my 32 chevy. Nice little kit for half price of Heidts. It does have alot of helix parts, which I think are chinese, but after cleaning up a few welds, and powder coating the A-arms its a clean setup with a lot more driveability than the single front axle setup.
Ob, here we go! You may be on the wrong board with that "A frame better than straight axle" talk. On a open car no less. Good luck selling that project car.
Don't worry Guys, I kept the pete & jakes dropped axle for my 32 lowboy. Not giving up on traditional looks and ride, just wanted something for longer road trips. And I do love the P&J dropped axle. No insult intended for the purists in the crowd!
That pic of mine is a '32 Oldsmobile... the Olds, Chevys, and Pontiacs all had very similar bodies in '32. An easy way to tell them apart quick is the bodylines and quarter windows. It's hard to see the detail in the bodylines in your pic, but that's definately a Pontiac firewall.
Thanks Good Ol Boy. Do you happen to know if hoods, grills, patch panels are interchangeable on the Olds, Pontiac & Chevy? I've found a few repo manufacturers for 30 era chevrolets, and I need a hood and engine cover panels, as well as patch panels for the front cowling and door bottoms. I was told the lower panels from a Ford will work on the chevy, but I think there is a demon in hell that gets your name if you put Heny J parts on a chevy (except for drivetrain of course) As always, I appreciate your advice.
Yes, all the lower patch panels for '31-'32 Chevys will fit up on 31-32 Pontiacs and Olds. The hoods will match up at the cowl, but each make had little differences in length between the cowl and grill... so some work may need to be done to make it fit proper.
Much appreciated. Spoke with Rod at Rootlieb today and he told me to measure my cowl and the length I need and they can make the hood longer to fit my model. After I've got the hood fitted, I can measure and they will make the side covers to match. Sounds like pretty good deal for $500
FYI, I measured the cowl tonight, and it is the same width and length as the chevy hood that rootlieb sells. Also, sanded it down to bare metal and primed it black. Its in cl***ified as 32 pontiac 5 window ...
You are right, sir! IF it doesn't sell, I'm going to give it a haircut, order the rootlieb hood and sides, and drop a 350/350 combo in her and drive the sh*t out of her.
53sled, I prefer the hemi in your avatar! Nope, you didn't hurt my feelings. Everybody says that ....
