  1. Sorry for all the all boat questions, but it's surely interesting to know the history of Danbury. Was the walls the same as ones that caused all the huge accidents we've come to see and read about or did they fill it in?

The track is the Latimore Valley Fairgrounds in York Springs, Pennsylvania. It's owned & operated by the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing (EMMR), which is a truly professional organization. Their museum is on the same site and is current undergoing significant, multi million dollar expansion.

For more info see their Web Site ...... http://www.emmr.org

Stock cars are only a part of what they highlight and the racing history they preserve.

Great Plainville photos. The XD-2 of George Lombardo on the trailer replaced the wrecked one and later became the #45 of Sparky Belmont. Thanks for sharing BF. I understand that car was built in less than one week.

Hey Alan I remember seeing that car 1 time when Dad & I went to Richies to have a cam magnifluxed. He had it in the back shop as I remember along with a super modified. Those were the days. Just memories now.

That was a great shot of the stock cars on the smaller inside track at Danbury...never knew they had run them there...If you look at the photos of the inside wall later on you can see the stripes that remained from when the moat was filled in. Never saw an overhead run there, so can't comment on the wall after the sixties.

  15. found this today of all place Harlem, all I could think of is probably what your thinking...... pinto modified. The body is all there, wonder how the parts car is!

Too nice to cut up. Maybe the parts car.

  17. never too nice to cut up...it's a pinto not a packard......

  18. That's an inside joke. Oh, and that hairy, Henderson thing you posted saying was me was all wrong. I shaved my beard off for your mother for Valentines Day and my Eyebrow is still black. I also wish my teeth were as good as his.

    Now back to the Modifieds.

  19. Have ya' ever owned or driven an original Pinto?

I've never seen one too nice to not cut up.

I bought one for resale in '74 and it was already rusted out  . That put new meaning in the phrase, "disposable car" or "chitbox". It and the Ford Escort are some of the reasons the imports took so much of the car market.
