Is there any manual transmissions that are readily available that would bolt up to a '62 352 FE Ford?

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Many old top loaders out there and plenty tough enough for your application

A good used toploader would be fine for that engine.

I'll second that; used his parts to rebuild my toploader some years ago. Good stuff.

Also, if I remember correctly, the smaller FE's got the small input shaft toploader, same as the small block.

Back when I used to work for Daves Speed Shop in RC SD we used to think nothing of putting one behind 650 and do almost nothing to them. We used to put them behind the C words when customers were tired of breaking the stuff it was supposed to have:cool:

'62 352's didn't come with toploader 4-spd's, they didn't come out until '64, and early bellhousings have a narrower bolt pattern- but most toploaders have both patterns. Small-block trannies have a longer input shaft than the FE versions, and will usually bottom out and bind up the works, but can be used with an FE with a shortened input, or my choice, a spacer plate. 427/428CJ/Boss9 trannies will have the short, big diameter input shaft, 390GT trannies have the short, small input. There are also some FE truck bells that are longer that will work with the smallblock trans
I happen to have a nice small input FE trans, but it's not going to go cheap, as it's correct for a '69 390 Mustang/Cougar. I also have a spare long-input small-block trans
