    Hello all,

Name's Lance and I've been into customizing since 1987. Have mostly owned custom late model trucks, lifted and lowered, bagged and channeled. Spent 10 years writing for custom truck magazines, and have been working as a marketing guy for a company that manufactures air suspension compressors for the past five years. I don't miss the traveling, but I do miss the creativity. Over the past few years, I've been doing my best to try to put down the urge to customize, but it recently got to me again. Started tearing down a pretty new V-twin motorcycle and realized how much I missed building it "just for me".

I'm on the lookout for a '50 Ford Shoebox to build as a custom. The '50 has been on my mind constantly. So much so, that I'm driving my wife nuts. - She's not much into old rides, but I think she's coming around.

  2. Lance,
Find that 50 and do it.
    Welcome from Michigan.

I'm enjoying my evenings so far, just looking at what others here have accomplished. I've been around custom rides and custom work for decades, and a few friends are into old rides, I just never took the plunge myself.

As far as my own Shoe', I think I'll know her when I see her...

I think I could do worse for a mid-life crisis car, ya' know?
I already ride a 1000cc sport bike and also have a big V-twin cruiser. Sports cars aren't really my thing, (that's what the meat grinder bike is for) but style and a ride with personality most definitely is. IMO,

Shoeboxes are loaded with style and personality.

    - Just became an Alliance member. I figure this place will be invaluable to me later on, so I may as well put a few bucks in, since I am bound to reap the benefits!

Its been about a month now, and I find myself reading a whole lot more than posting. I'm learning more than I thought I would and have already found myself sitting at the computer like a little kid listening to his grand-dad's war stories. Love this place so far, and am happy to be an Alliance member.

    Now, where's my damn Shoebox?
