I was going to just buy the new Nailhead motor mounts from Trans Dapt, but damn they won't have them for 30 days... Time to fabricate a set...

First off I gathered up a couple of pieces of 2x4 steel and a broken stock mount... and laid it out on a s****...

I measured the angle of the mount boss on the engine and how far it was from the frame rail...

Oh yeah and I gathered up the safety equipment, face shield and gloves, and my cut off wheel...

cut it out with the proper angle...

check to make sure the back of the stock mount lines up...

put it in the vise to drill some cool holes...

tack weld andcheck that it's correct...

    weld up and check again...

I'll finish grinding the welds smooth tomorrow and work on where they'll mount to the frame....

Those look cool, I can't wait to see how you are going to mount them to the frame. Being from Kanada, I want to see the pucks.

Got both sides on the mock up motor today and will fab up the rest of the mounts tomorrow... Kind of got put off last weekend helping a friend move and getting work caught up for VLV....

But alas the wings are on...

I'll also be leveling out the motor and doing the ****** mount tomorrow as well...

After some looking I may just have room for a stock style steering box and may go with that instead of the cowl steering....

You scared of green? It's very simlar to one of the Pontiac colors, very blue/green... It's the cl***ic Buick engine color from the 50's... I like it, it's staying on the mock up motor... Now the actual motor may be different...

  16. Lookin good Z! Still a long way off..................I am pulling for you to make it though!!!!!!!!!!!

Curious for your front suspension plans, I have one of those GM frames that is stuck in my head for a future car. Bootifull rear kickup on those

I like the green, looks cool, so does the rest of it. I guess you could paint it chevy orange to see how many people pay attention. Haha

    Beautiful work...
