  1. Nah, I can dig it. It's a little bit speedway. :)

    Thanks Ryan

Exactly. That pad was always in the plan. There are a number of things on this car that are speedway inspired. That's where I grew up.

Thanks to the others for comments too.

I see thats cool that it has purpose, I thought it was a rego thing my bad.

  5. I love your car. The work you did was truly amazing. The color choice works and the way it sits is just right. Enjoy the heck out of it (and good luck keeping your son away from it in a few years)

pete, what have i missed.one of the great build up threads.
i've been standing in the shed today looking at my very rough 34 coupe with sucked in and distorted ''a'' pillars, crap welds from the chop{previous owner) the usual story.
this build has given me inspiration, a very well built and thought out car,
    well done, thommo.

Stunning, absolutally stunning. At first I was like, stay with the roadster, but now I think that this car couldn't be any other way. Bravo!

I just spent the last hour reading this entire thread. Great work and I learned HEAPS! You should be proud. My first body was a 29 roadster so I can relate to your car a little bit. I had to resist really hard not to throw in my opinion on the state of the laws in this country but like you said "let's not turn this thread into that" so I resisted. All I can say is that your work is first class and I really like your attitude of "jump right in regardless" (Muncie rebuild phase). That was gold and I really took something away from that.

    Thanks for this thread.

Ha. Thanks guys. I just saw that this had popped up again. I haven't been on here much in the last couple of weeks. Things have gone quiet in the shed too. Planning our overseas trip and quite honestly don't have the enthusiasm to get out there at the moment. As much as I enjoyed building this car, it took a lot of commitment and I'm finding it hard to muster the energy. It'll return...I am sure of it. In the meantime, thanks for the words and maybe I'll see a few of you at The Hayride or B'ville.

Best thread yet, don't understand how you had time to post and build, with so many questions along the way. Cong's John

Every so often this re-appears. Can't say it bothers me.
Richard, the radiator was custom built to fit the slightly narrowed Hupmobile shell by a local shop in my town. He did a nice job and came to my house to test fit a couple of times, but it wasn't cheap.

John, I didn't start posting pics untill I was about 3/4 way into the build. It would have been too boring to post it in real time. I'm not fast, but I'm rough.

    Maybe this...??

Since it came back again I might as well update it. I just repainted the top of my fuel tank due to a pinhole which over time caused the paint to bubble and flake. While I had the gun out I touched up the paint I burned off the side of the cowl. You have to make sure it's a double panel before you go welding a tab into the inside of your car to attach kick panels.

I got my SR club registration and good timing too. The 90 day, drive it anywhere log book scheme has started.

I have had a magazine feature thanks to Ryan, Kyle and Willo at "Chopped" magazine

It's beautiful. At one point I was building a '29 that I was hoping to setup similar to yours.

My plan was to use an L6 Chevy or Ford...

Seeing your makes me wish I still had that pile of parts in the garage!

That car is just too sweet, too bad about messing up and getting the steering wheel on the wrong side - i doubt if anybody will notice.
I bet it is just unbelievable to drive, thanks for sharing oj

  23. Yep, doesn't matter how hard you try, cycle fenders just stuff it up.

Congrats on the 'Chopped' feature. Pics look great!

    Pete,

KILLER photo's! I happen to like the fenders (wonder why?). They actually might look better painted to match the body, IMHO. The black looks like you're trying to "hide" them. They have sort a purposeful, "race car dressed for street" look if they're body color.

Congrats on the feature, is it a current issue? My brother lives in Melbourne, I'll ask him to pick one up and send me if they're still on newstands.

    Cheers,

    Brian

I think most newsagents don't sell chopped, here's their website. http://www.chopped.com.au/
