I was at a motorcycle shop recently, and they had these plastic bottles hanging up over each work area that looked like I.V. bottles you'd see in a hospital. They had gas in 'em and were using them to run the bikes on when the gas tanks were off.

Anybody know where I can get one of these?

    Thanks!

    Ben

I needed one to sync the carbs on my bike while the tank was off. Went to an implement dealer and got a used lawn mower tank and a plastic shut off valve. When I am done I shut off the gas for a while while the engine is running so when I unhook it no gas spills. Cost me about 15 bucks total.

    I used a guinea pig's water bottle.
Pop the check valve ball out of the tube and slide a hose on.
They hold about a quart, are only a few bucks and come
with the hanger and the aforementioned down tube that
    1/4" hose slides right over.

They've gotten more than a few of my"Builds" around the
    block on a test drive.

Something like the one below (sorry for the huge pic).

A fine forum dedicated to motorsickles and the like...

  10. Motion Pro is the company, I dont think you can buy direct, I had a custom bike shop so it was no problem. Check with any local bike shop and they can order one up for you.

Chill out? Really? He specified he wanted one like at the bike shop. He did not ask for something better. So I don't see how telling him to ask the bike shop requires a chill out. Now go to your room for a time out.

We use a little (maybe a quart?) plastic gas tank off of a small older snow thrower. (Its shaped like a moon tank)

Already has a vented fill cap and a ****** for a rubber line.

  15. For those of you folks that want to make your own, Dennis Kirk, sells all the sizes of little plastic fuel valves or pet****s. That and the fuel tank off the neighbors lawn mower and your set. Make sure the neighbor is sleeping, just sayin..........................

The unit on Ebay looks good but $42 plus shipping for a 1/2 gallon plastic containter and a couple of fittings? I bought a boat gas tank at a Marine shop...use it all the time to bring "barn finds" back from the dead...it has an integral "pump" bulb in line you just squeeze to get the gas flowing...and it comes with a long 3/8" line that I just keep a hose clamp on and attach it to whatever I am working on. I got a bigger one like 6 gallons and it might have still been slightly cheaper than that Ebay unit...I am sure if you got a smaller one it would be cheaper still. You just have to have the tank higher than the carb for the gravity feed to work...

Volkswagen bug windshield washer bottle, a bungee cord to hang it from, a little fuel line, ..... uh, .... uh, (damn ... forgot what I did for a fuel pet****!)

Anyway, I'll get off my dead ***, go out in the shop and take a pic of it.
(In a little while .... I'm relaxin' right this minute!)

The A/Fuel dragster guys, use a similar set-up for the initial start-up on methanol in the pits. It's just a small tank with a ball valve and a fuel line, easy to make and a lot cheaper than those "specialty tanks". The marine tank would probably be a great option, since it is all certified etc. for filling and having fuel in it.

I've got one of those stainless overflow canisters from Summit/Speedway that I got at a swap meet for like $10 cause it was scratched up. I put a section of fuel hose on the bottom, and put a needle valve about halfway down the fuel hose. I can feed it into the carb throat, or run it through the inlet fitting. A bent up piece of spring steel I had laying in the shop is used as a hanger to hook to the hood.
