Mostly correct. The doors are the same, the channels bolt in and out. So you would need the window mechanism and channel from the starliner, as well as the upper door bezel on the inside securing the top of the door panel. No need to purchase an entire door.
The quarters are not needed, just the inside sheet metal holding the rear side window mechanisms and mechanisms, channels, etc. The starliner roof. The rear window (ebay has had a few on there for around 500$, for a non reproduced rear window that is a good price as I have seen them reach 1200...) The front glass from your current car can be used if the glass is shaved to fit the starliner roof (it used ever so slightly thicker pillars). So, if you are getting a roof make sure it has the stainless and the front pilars.
You will also need the trim for the top of the rear window that secures the top of the door panels.

Sounds overwhelming huh? But the good news, the package tray should be similar, and the trunk lid and spacing is the same. A lot easier than starting with a squared back roof galaxie. Even the cardboard for the package tray is the same.

BTW - anybody need a donor starliner with a rotten lower half, no title and a bent frame?

In the For Sale section there is a 2 door Edsel and it's in Texas.

  6. Just thinking here but, Would it be easier to start with a nice 60 Starliner body shell and transfer all the Edsel parts onto it? I know of one that's been parted out but as I remember extremly solid.

  7. Maybe I'd better go back to the junkyard were I got the taillights off an Edsell just like that!!! (No Kidding!) But that was 20 years ago... probably powdered rust by now if it's not at a Chinese steel mill!

Nah. You haven't see how bad the rust is on her. ;)

I'll be really tearin' into her in a couple of weeks. . .then you'll see what I'm really talkin' about. . .

P.S. James D, I prefer the term "murder" of Edsels (since they're going to be the death of me, and my wallet )

I didn't know you were looking for more Edsel's. There are 3 in Anderson sitting and Amy has always gone and looked at them when we were in town. Congratulations on the find. This will give you yet another project and another goal to shoot for. Good luck on the build!

    True, tough, but not impossible.

    She's a 2 dr. Ranger Sedan. She's 1 of 777.

Rare, yes, but not as rare as the 1960 Edsel:
    2 door hardtop(243 total)
    4 door hardtop (104 total)
    6 passenger Wagon (216 total)
    9 passenger Wagon (59 total)
    Convertible (76 total)
now those are the rare rare birds.

Two more weeks until I can get to her. Spring Break will soon be here, and then we'll really tear into her. . .

Thanks for all the "congrats," folks, much appreciated! :D
