^^^so this is all about the drama for you? someones car suffered a terrible tragedy all all you can think of is ripping on other people and takeing the thread to new heights why dont you grab your purse and high heels and leave the thread if something bothers you
I'd have to agree with you there. That was a pretty unkind post to put out when the folks just lost their car and the trailer too. That rear tire burning completely probably created enough heat to warp the sheet metal pretty badly along with the cold water from the fire department hitting hot metal and as Joe said, the fireman may have used some serious pry bars getting it open to get to the inside to finish putting the fire out. Sad, deal I really liked what he had done to that car and hoped to see it later in the year at one of the shows up here.
I guess money in the pocket is fine, but I bet that they would rather still have the car. god they were not hurt, but what a sicking loss.
Reign it in, guys. Bones and the Noteboom family are fantastic people and have been great friends to the car and cycle community. I've got a Car Craft from 1958 with Bones' Chevy on the cover around here somewhere, so he's been around long enough to know what he's doing. Let the ignorant comments die. Simply put yourself in Bones' shoes, feel some sympathy, and leave the speculation to those on the scene. (thanks to those who defended him)
A relatively flat door will warp much more than a compound curve like a fender, or even a hood. Not withstanding the introduction of cold water. Too bad ,that was a beautiful custom. Had a buddy who lost a whole trailer full of vintage racing Porches in a similar fire. Never Know, could happen to any one.
There was too much damage to rebuild. Jim called me Fri. inquiring about a project we have that he's been interested in for a few years then he tells me about their loss. I felt the pain as if it were my own loss. Material things can be replaced, lives can't. Thankfull the Noteboom's are well. DENVER'S CHOPPERS Preserving a Piece of History.
OUCH that sight is gut wrenching to the guys that know what it takes to build such a beautiful old custom car like that.Insurance $ can't replace the thousands of hours spent building it. What a shame!
I looked that car over before the interior was done. Empty ****pit . The car was a quality build. Sad to see the car end up like that. I'm sure the new project will be as nice or better.
REALLY DUDE? What a douche bag way to comment on the guys destroyed pride and joy. I hope tons of money for it and build the next one even nicer. I think I would litterally cry.
i got to meet bones about 14 yrs ago thru a friend at a car show when i was just a punk kid, we tagged along with him all day, very nice guy, very down to earth. it really ****s to lose such a cool car but cars and trailers come and go, people dont, i'm just glad everyone is ok.
After seeing this I will buy several more Fire supression devices. Maybe 2 large ones in the rear of the tow truck.
That has got to be on my top 10 list of nightmares . Glad to hear that they were OK and that things will work out .
Sorry for your loss "Bones" For you guys bashing him - and the quality of the car --- I saw that car many time before it was ever started as a Kustom The car was incrediably straight. Think he said he found it in a barn in Hemet after being parked for 45 years. Quit speculating !!! I've know Bones for years and ya couldn't find a nicer, down to earth guy. He really help me out when I built #1 KOOL 35 (Pics attached) Can't wait to see his next project. Glad he and Helga are alright.
I know their pain from first hand experience. Just heartbreaking, and like others have said glad no one was hurt.
why not quote all of it the next time? He asked if the door was full of filler. Maybe you should pay attention as well.
Jim is a Super Nice Guy, with a great eye for building unique customs. He helped finish a couple cars that were in the middle of progress when we moved- One was the 57 Brougham clone of Watson's car. He'll go out of his way to help just about anyone!
What A shame... regardless what the car was made of.. Tons of Loving labor went into that piece of art. Just A SHAME.
Just saw this for the first time. Sorry to hear of the loss of a great car. Glad Bones and his wife are ok. Can't wait to see what he builds next, always killer rides!! -Shiny
