Hi ya'll. Got to show my very first Deuce roadster that I purchased recently. I think it resembles the Bill Kenz roadster a bit with the original spoke wheels and all (except the power plant). Anyway it's a beaut.
Technically the only original is All Henry Steel....That said I'd love to own your roadster. Very nice.
That is a beautifully done Deuce! You went to a lot of trouble to get the rear that low and match up the opening with the tire. Great job!
Lets face the facts ... Henry only made a few roadsters 1932 was the worse year for Ford production and the Great Depression. Not many new Fords were sold in 1932. Folks wanted them but just could not afford one. There is not enough REAL Henry Ford 32 roadsters left for everyone to have one. So the fiberglass guys and then Brookville ( and others ) stepped up and made some. Wescott is the best glass roadster ( IMHO ) and Brookville has the best repro steel roadster. I have a original Henry Ford roadster ( for over 30 years ) But ... If something serious happened to mine ... I would have to get me a Brookville I guess. My friend wanted a 32 roadster so I found him a Brookville. IF ... you like your roadster ... then drive it, enjoy it and do not worry about what others think of it.
Brookville bodies are not Ford bodies so seeing as I had no other choice in your poll I had to go fake on it. They are nice enough bodies for sure but you can't call one original as they are not original. That said if I found one that was affordable and wanted a deuce roadster I would build it and never look back.
Strictly speaking, an original Deuce roadster must have the frame that came with the body from the factory to be called original....a lot of cars are bitsas with bodies and chassis matched up from across the 32 range. A gennie Henry roadster body on a coupe frame with fenders and hood from other `32 models makes up a car made from original 32 parts, but that car never actually existed, so in the true sense it is a fake....a check on the production records would identify that car by the chassis number ie; a coupe. In any case who cares either way...just enjoy what you like.
if the handle broke on the axe that George Washington cut the cherry tree down with, and it was replaced it's still his axe. that said i wouldn't care if old henry made the body or Brookville.
Here we go again!!! Different strokes for different folks!! Whatever gets your juices flowing!!! Not many can afford the "OVERPRICED" Henry stuff. Look at what the aftermarket repros have done for the hobby. Certainly did not ruin it!!
I could never afford an "original" Deuce body, or any part of the original cars that are still around, so if it was'nt for fiberglass bodies I would not have a hot rod right now. It's what I could afford and I think the repro bodies, be it glass or steel are what keeps this hobbie alive. If money were no object I'd have an original Deuce, but it is an object, at least for me it is. I love hot rods but they are not the driving force in my life. My Granddaughters are.
the plate says it all ! This car was and is , always going to be a driver . It's been finished about 1 and a half years , and has 10K on the clock. Looking forward to many more in my "fake" Brookville roadster .
Yea we do. lets see if I go to a taco joint and buy a taco burger is it a burrito? yes it is: No it isn't: well I prefer pizza: Sorry I just couldn't resist. I am going to make a statement that I have made before and will continue to make until somepne gets it. "All hot rods are imposters" Henry never put a hemi in a duece or a rocket on a '40 coupe. he never painted anything candy red during the era we call tradition and there was never an A V-8 from the factory. Build what you wat with whatever parts you want just don't try and pass if off as what it isn't and no one has a beef with you.
Cant vote on that ,Its not real steel.Doesnt really matter that much anyway ,Nice 32 / I cant tell the difference and If I could Id still say its a nice car ..........
Maybe if you took a black n' white photo of it like this one here.... Either way, I saved both pics in my deuce picture files.... Thanks for posting them!!
Personally I think the word "Fake" is a bit harsh, "REPRODUCTION" is the term I'd use if I started the poll. Brookville makes fine products, but they are NOT Ford parts so you better not try to sell a finished car without stating it has a reproduction body IMO.
The bitchenest Deuce in Australia is a glass body but its built just right. Who cares if its glass? Not I. I would love to be cruising in that powder blue 5 window with the blown flattie puring along. Awesome! Doc.
