I have a 2 wheel drive s10 rear end I want to put into my full fendered model A. I have checked the rear end ratio and the yoke tuns 2.1 turns to every revolution of the tire so I believe it is a 2.11 gear ratio this seam real high for use in a hot rod. Does anybody know what gear ratio i can get for a s10 rear end to make it a good driver . I don't care if it is real fast just that it drives nice.

  2. Sounds like your doing it incorrectly. On a open rear, you must lock one of the wheels from turning, then re-check and calculate. I'm sure you dont have a 2.11:1 You might have a
4.10:1/4.11:1 which was available in the S-10. :D

  3. That sounds real high for an S-10. The '88 banger with a 5 speed had a 4.10:1 ratio if that's any help.

I would pull the cover and count the teeth on the ring and the pinion and do the math. Grease should probably be changed anyway. I have one out of a v-6, haven't checked it yet, but should be a high 2.00 or a mid 3.00 number. I think i googled it and it had all the specs for all the different years and engine types.

Never heard of 2.11 S10 rear.

There will be codes stamped on the front of the p***enger side axle tube.

They wil tell you where the axle was built, when, and what ratio.

See if the RPO Code sticker is still in the glovebox. If so, on it should be one of the following numbers.

    GU2 2:73 ratio

    GU4 3: 08 ratio

    GU5 3:23 ratio

    GU6 3:42 ratio

    GT4 3:73 ratio

    GT5 4:10 ratio

its multiply by 2 not divide.

lock one wheel, put chalkmark on driveshaft, turn unlocked wheel 2 times around. count revolutions on driveshaft.
