After watching the other thread i created a spinoff thread stricly dedicated to great shades of blue used on cars: both new and old. We need some inspiration as our car is going to be blue and we can't decide on anything. We're mainly going for a darker blue but any and all creations: please post them here with the info!

  2. If your into the darker blues, there is a great one from the 1990 Mustang LX. Just a slight touch of metalics, and very dark almost black. Awesome color. If your into real traditional, try the old Ford Blue's like Model A paints- 28-29 etc. I believe you can get them from Mac's or Snyders.

I think the HOK Magic Blue is one of the best looking metallic blues out there.

This blue looks better in person, but it's Nason medium blue, and bright white. Industrial paint, and it doesn't fade, and hard as iron... hard to sand.

Here is mine, I believe it is DuPont Hot Hues Blue Mood #741901. The roof is a heavy flake lighter shade of blue but not sure what color.

I really like royal and navy blue combos. Eventually I would like to repaint my roof and wheels in a heavy flake dark navy blue.

we are waiting on color samples from Dupont currently. we need to hurry up and deside as the fenders, etc are going to primed and painted seperate from the body and their first to go in the next few weeks here. We were thinking a dark navy blue with heavy flake but i really like the color on your car. thanks for the pic and info!

Here's my old '55. Paint is '89 Camaro IROC Blue, AKA "Bright Blue". It contrasts nicely with chrome & polished aluminum.

Keep 'em coming... I didn't know there was so much interest in blue otherwise I would have kept the thread more on point.

I painted my '62 Stude with Rusteoleum "Royal Blue". It took a quart and a half at $9.95 a quart!

I almost bought a new '88 because I loved that color so much... Till I got the sticker shock  and went out and bought a new 5.0L pony for half the price instead... Plus it was faster! :D

In 1970 Plymouth came out with 3 metallic Blues
The 5 is very similar to the Chevy Marina Blue.
You could take these and tone up or down a bit for an even wider range...

These are some examples of Ford's "Pea**** Blue" from 1956.

  26. Blue is my favorite color and always has been. But, I've never painted a car I built blue because it always seemed to be too hard to get "right".

Maybe it's time to give it a shot...
