About a buck-30 in my T. And a buck-5 in a Subaru Justy. It got real floaty and started to wobble...Scared the crap outta me when I realized...I'm in a Subaru Justy!!
Year 2001, truck passed me doing 100+, i waited til i saw his tail light just disappear...Center of NJ turnpike, alone, '97 Ferrari 348 spider, 205mph. (Note to self)DO NOT LET OFF THE GAS ALL THE WAY GOING THAT FAST! Thats when i got scared.

Know someone close who's been over 100 in a '55 Chevy with a 283 with solid lifters and a cam setup - IN 2nd GEAR ALONE. No, this isn't a tall tale. Doesn't phase me if most of you don't believe it. At least I and a few other witnesses know that 283 REALLY COULD!! (Also had 411 gears in the rear end)
12.1@120 in the 1/4 in a Nissan hardbody pickup...I have the time slips to prove it....I have been 8.20 in licensing runs for my NHRA card.
The earth rotates at a steady 1,038 miles per hour,it takes 24 hours for complete rotation, I googled it.So if you are going the right direction yer haulin ass !
140mph in my 78 Datsun 280Z. Seats weren't even bolted down. 160mph speedo. Slowed down great down-shifting with 4wheel drums. 18 and stupid at the time. 100mph is fun enough from here on out.
145 in my old 58 Impala with a blown 454. 125 in my old 63 drag bug with a built flat 4, but I forget what size the motor was in that one. Good times!
Just spent a week roadtesting a Shelby GT500. Not many straight roads in the Georgia mountains and this thing really eats up the road fast. 140 and climbing, great brakes to bring it down. Cannot believe that in a week of this, I didn't get a ticket.
actually I was holding the sheet that you had covering the original primo back seat that nobody could set on ,.....from covering your eyes since you were doing a mighty fine job of keeping the consistance sqwall of the tires, when all of a sudden the wingvents slam shut and that sheet was sucking up front covering us.......... big fun. .... and yea that car was fast,........second fastest i've ever been other then the viper witht he 1000 hp shot nitrous.
Similar in my '69 Mach1, just hit 5700 in 4th w/3.00 gears, a little over 140, and the drivers' side window sucked out at the top, and a headliner bow broke, came down and poked me in the top of the head, scared the Chebbie out of me Fastest, riding in my buddies' original race GT40 #P1009, still had the LeMans gears in it, went 70 in first, 120 in second, and we got well into 4th before we ran out of room and had to slow down- sounded real good out of the open race megaphones
140 in a 1966 Pontiac Catalina with a 389 and 2.56 rear gear and 108 down hill in my diesel daily driver jacked up f-350
110 - 1970 Cadillac Deville, that boat did float. 120 - 80's Kawasaki ltd 750 and a long empty highway. Scary as hell at night, watching for deer eyes in the ditch. 130 - Volvo twin turbo. Wifes car.
Back in the day, I had a bright yellow 69 Camaro, buried the 120 mph speedo along the Sea Bright strip in Jersey. Passed a cop coming the other way, he had his red lights on before I got to him. About 10 minutes later when he caught up to me at the road block, he came up to the car and asked how fast I was going. "Would you believe 80?"....... That was a ticket. One of many with that car.
ive been to 150mph twice first time in a 70 camero in high school second time was on my bike a 79 honda cb750k and it scared the shit outta me the front end got really floaty and light so i backed off was afraid of wreckin so i backed off it was a really built bike but not meant to go that fast and got my ass chewed off from the wife who was following me for awhile when i got home i caught hell she was pissed cus she had my kids in the car with her!
Hit the factory electronic speed limiter on the VRod at least once a summer (145). Last pass with the dragster 7.52 @ 180.42 mph. '68 camaro 11.88 @ 113 (I could've stayed in it for a mile and maybe hit 115! High gears.)
put me in for 120mph, in a bitchin' 1978 camaro, fresh rebuilt 350 with mild cam. 105 on my old shovelhead. both scary enough so u know your alive.
in my 71 duster, stroker low deck on the bottle, the fastest was on I-4 at 0230 in the morning i was just airing out the car and slowing down when i passed FHP. needless to say he clocked me at 132 slowing down. when he pulled me over, "shit son! do you know how fast you were going?". got the ticket to prove it! now a days i travel at 270KCAS (around 310mph) when im at work, what a blast i love my job!
Bought a 350z in 2004 after some real estate deals. Figured I'd take my dad for a ride. Grew up hearing all of his back road racing stories so i promptly went through the six speed and easily hit 140. You shoulda seen the look on his face when i told him we just blew past 140. He later explained how back in the day-he was born in 39- if you hit 100 it was kinda scary. Haven't been able to get him back in a car with me since.
