This is a slight variation of SinisterCustom's thread from 2008. Since my Model A spindals do not fit into a vice...I fashioned a simple tool to remove/install early Ford kingpin bushings. Why free you ask? Cause all of you guys have this stuff in your garage/shed. The Game; Remove and install your kingpin bushings with no $$$. The Players; 6" +/- 3/8" all thread (2) 3/8 nuts and flat washers Husky 17mm socket (any socket will do as long as it is slightly smaller than the kingpin bore but large enough to cover the bushing. Husky 1 1/16" socket ( any size will do as long as it is larger that the bushing being pressed out.
Now put the 17mm socket and washer between the kingpin bosses and pass the allthread with a nut on the end through. slide the larger socket through the allthread from the other side. Install a washer and nut from that end also. Snug everything up making sure the smaller socket it properly aligned with the bushing being pressed out. now use (2) 9/16th wrenches and tighten away. You will feel the bushing move almost imediately. There...you did it. Use the tool to install your new bushings as well.
Nice work! YOu're going to have that A on the road in no time. Do you have a reamer too, to clean up the bushing?
