Hi HAMB'ers, I'm over here as a civillian helo mech, working on Chinooks as of late. My family and I are from Beaufort SC... Mid 40's Corvair guy. The only thing I have old enough for this board is a 1960 Corvair 500 sedan that is essentially stock but will lean toward mild custom as I am happy with the basic car. Havent' had much time home to mess with it but while there was able to do a quick fix on my rusty floors and drop in a new rug and some cheesy hawaiin print seat covers. Put on a new grill bar, trim rings and license plate area trim off of a later model EM and she's on the road. Still need some door panels, but other than that the old girl is in pretty good shape for going on 51... Other than that I have 2 '65 Corsas, one running + a parts car to restore later on with my son (3 yrs old) Like what y'all have done with the place! Regards Mike Trimmier FOB Salerno Afghanistan Beaufort SC
A man serving our country I would presume, Dont think anyone would be living in the 'Stan' otherwise,, Army, Air Force or Marines? I was in the Navy, Welcome MrTrimmier, I am sure you will find at least a couple fellow corvair enthusiasts here.. Thanks for your service.
I was in the Army during the Gulf War, then got out and did 6 more years in the Air Natl Guard in Savannah Ga, bout 50 miles from the house. Currently I work for L-3/Vertex Aviation doing phase maintenance (scheduled maintenance) on CH-47D Chinooks, though I've worked on most everything the Army flies at one time or another... Figured with all the Ford Falcons popping up here and there I could slide a 'vair in ;0) Regards, Mike T
