Thanks to the 57 Ford post, I found the right paint for my garnish moldings and painted them this week when it got warmer. I'm excited to play again in the warmer weather. I was thinking of ordering the fuzzies for them but I didn't. I was in the garage an hour ago and saw a set of BLC buckets that I have and got them down to look at the tag again...right behind them laying flat was a set of fuzzies that I bought off of Ebay because they were cheap. I didn't need them then but I knew that I would. I had forgotten that I bought them. That's like finding a 100 bucks. I'm so dumb sometimes. I bought 2 sets of repro door handles for my 66 Chevelle once. I was younger then.
don't feel bad. I am fortunate to have a young man ***isting me. He remembers stuff that i had no clue we had
I do the same thing in the shop.... find a couple of something I'm looking for and I use the best one though!!
One of my favorite p*** times is to put wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers... in my pocket and then walk around the shop for 15min looking for "that fricking wrench I just had!"
I know the feeling. Sometimes I get up from the T.V. and walk into the kitchen only to forget what I went to the kitchen to do. I have to go back into the T.V. room and sit down just so I can remember what it was I meant to do. I guess when it gets to the point where I need to make 3 or 4 trips to figure it out, I'll know for sure I'm in real trouble. I need to get over there soon, Tommy, to see the progress on the '56..........Don.
I misplaced my gl***es yesterday, went up and down the stairs at least 3 times looking for them, sure glad I looked in the mirror while searching the bathroom. Time for a hair cut too.
My favorite thing is to unlock my truck door with the key, leave it in the door lock, and get in the truck digging for my keys in all my pockets while in a panic----then I go back to the house to hunt for them.
I stashed $350 in one spot and $400 in another. That was over a year ago. Decided to get my **** together for this year's sleddin season...and found it. I thought I'd spent it at Hershey 09. Found some Packard parts I thought I'd sold, but I still can't find that fuggin... Hey man, you're not alone. Those who don't forget **** either have very little to do or they're very young. I'm neither.
At least you didn't lock yourself in. HA! Damn, it ****s gettin old sometimes. I have the 'where's the wrench' syndrome(while it's in my back pocket) more than I care to admit. **** like that keeps me off balance and unable to focus on the task at hand 'til I get things in order again. In the shop yesterday and I was looking for one of my die grinder bits. It always settles underneath all of my cutoff wheels and sanding discs, making it hard to find when I need it. I relocated it for this very reason, and every time I dig for it, it takes 10 minutes to remember that I hid it from myself in another drawer.
It's great getting old...finding stuff you bought months/years ago is like finding hidden treasure (and sometimes about that expensive). I took a trip to GG's Scottsdale a few years ago, by myself...I like to take cash so the credit cards don't build. I decided to hide the majority of it. When I got back home I wondered why I came close to running out of money...two years later, when I was cleaning out the car to sell it, I found the $400 I stashed. It was like making an extra $400.00 on the sale of the car. R-
That's not as bad as looking all over hell for it and having it in your hand with a couple of other wrenches. Tommy I can well relate, the way I usually find something is to buy another one and then find the first one before the just ordered one arrives.
The question I always ponder: How can you forget so many things, but never forget how to get to work?
If you don't "get" "half himers" yer way young... Gets so bad at times that half himers would be a blessing.
Yeah I found 5 350 steel cranks I forgot I had last month. 15 yrs of collecting and living in 6 places over that time will do that to ya
Tommy.....I turned 60 last September. I tell people that I'm at that awkward age. I'm old enough to remember "the good old days" but too young to forget them! You're doing fine buddy.......
Or living in the same place for almost 25 years. I got so much stuff stashed here and there and everywhere I can't remember where half of it is. I've still got a box of the stuff in the closet that I packed when I was moving here from Oakland. Might be something really good in it, but I sure can't remember what and I'm too lazy to open it up to check. Pretty sure I have 3/4 himers.
Glad I'm not alone with this affliction! I have stuff stashed all over the place...ba*****t, attic, old garage, new shop, and in a storage building I rent. Kinda like a treasure hunt when I start looking for things. I'm also bad for setting a tool down and not being able to find it 30 seconds later.
Actually I was just happy get back out in the garage again. I finally found a reasonable generator that I could rebuild. I want to get it all dialed in and wired while I can easily get to it. It's looking pretty good. Now if I can just find the voltage regulator that I took off of it. It's got to be in here some place. I do have a system. It should be in the cabinet that I found the fuzzies in. It's right in front on the core support so I can easily replace it if it doesn't show up but I want to get the harness built and mounted. Little steps one at a time. I'll get there some day. I'd get more done if I didn't spend 1/2 my time looking for stuff.
I took a walk over to the far side of the shop the other day...it was like I was in someone elses shop...where did all that neat old stuff come from!?!?
Yea, I know what you mean... I met this guy once, and he had an ice cream cone in his pocket and....... Wait a minute... What were we talking about?
