  1. Hey, Turd!

Go get yourself a copy of the newest issue of StreetRodder magazine! There's an article on the 365/390 Cadillacs....might learn something!

    Terd,

What intake/carb(s) are you going to use? The stock setup or an aftermarket multi-carb setup? I just picked up a '54 331/hydramatic to propel my fleetline so I'm exploring options...

Stock intake for now with an Edelbrock. Although I'd prefer a 2x2 or 3x2.

No, it requires an adapter. This was done by the previous owner instead of rebuilding the worn out stock carburetor. He also converted the distributor from points to pertronix. Honestly, that would probably be the best running combo for the street. But not really what I'm looking for.

Thanks Leonard!! I went to buy paint Saturday for the engine and got there 10 minutes after they closed. So now the plan is to buy paint and paint on Monday.

I'll also be dropping a pile of stuff to get chromed this week.

I think I'm just going to do it here at my house. I've got a compressor and a gun.

By the way, do you have a 12 volt cad generator and bracket that your brother isn't going to use with that 331?

Actually after all that fuss my brother is going with a 364 Buick. Not sure if I have a 12 Cad Gen but I do have an Olds. and bracket I believe. You can have it.....if you but my 365 Cadillac haha!!!

Thanks Joe! Actually we already fired it on the hoist when we got it back up here from GA, haha. It sounds really nice!!! So when its finally in, you'll get to see the "second fire" vid, hahaha!

I just need a gen to run while I have mine chromed and rebuilt. I don't think I have a bracket at all though. And I may not even need a gen to run if it takes longer to install the engine than it does to get chrome back, haha!

Anyways, the engine is totally cleaned up and taped up. I have the paint, a compressor, a gun and a mask (but not talent, lol). It'll be my first time with real paint, but by tomorrow afternoon, this engine will be titty pink pearl!!! I'm both nervous and excited at the same time.

  18. Go, baby go!!!

    Can't wait.

Don't worry, you won't see runs if you make them really since it's not flat panels.

    Come get your trans!!!!

No this is an homo erotic Iron Lords thing where Pink means......PINK! Dude, don't worry, you'll love it!!!

For real though, the pink is going to be incredibly cool once it's all done. It's not like it's hot pink but very much in the realm of late 50's pearl pinks that were used.

Now I'm waiting for the last base coat to flash. It is really really pink. Pinker than I thought. I'm hoping the pearl will tone it down, lol. We will see.....

Oh it happened alright. I've still got the clear to put on. Pics later tonight after I'm done.

Its too bad that I'm almost done before I get the hang of painting with a gun. I got some runs on the oil pan. At least nobody will really see the oil pan. The pearl is really tricky to spray evenly. It looks great on the block, but the intake and water pump, not so much. On the upside, I'll be swapping intakes sooner or later. And if I can't live with the water pump, I'll just chrome it! I'll probably wind up chroming the oil pan too, haha! Chrome everything!!!

This has been (and still is til I'm done) a huge learning experience. I have gained respect for real painters who do this stuff like its nothing. And I have learned I'm probably now fourteen times as scared to paint my truck when the time comes, hahaha!!! :D

  29. Definitely subscribed! This is what I'm planning for mine eventually (without the pink), and I "plan" on a standard too. This is going to be awesome and I can't wait to see the progress.
