Tommy Sparks a well known Hot Rodder has Died Still Runnin Magazine learned today some very sad news when Leon Kaplan of KABC Radio Show announced the p***ing of Tommy Sparks. This is indeed Great loss to the car hobby world. Tommy Sparks was a well known Hot Rodder and race car builder. Built cars in the Forties and Fifties. He was a judge at major Car Shows. There will be no funeral for Tommy Sparks, but a memorial is planned. Our condolences to his wife and family.
He graciously opened up his garage to people to share his car & memorabilia collection. He worked on such films as TUCKER and of course loaned his home and garage to the DEUCE OF SPADES Hot Rod film. Tom Sparks on Car Crazy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c57X31h-F_s
Sounds like one of the good ones. The founders of our p***ion are leaving with alarming frequency. May they all rest in peace. Frank
So sorry to hear this...I was lucky enough to have met him back in the 80's on a movie set we were working on, & got to hang with him for a bit...He was an incredibly knowledgable and very friendly guy...my condolences to his family. EW
Tom Sparks was a really neat guy, a top racer and cl***ic car restorer. I had the honor to be a Judge with Tom at the Pebble Beach Concours. It was a pleasure to work with him. Years ago he had allowed me to use some of his early hot rodding photos in my books. He ran at the Lakes in the early days before becoming involved in drag racing. In later years he did beautiful restorations of cl***ic cars and supplied the motion picture industry with cars as they were required. He was one of the best. Don www.montgomeryhotrodbooks.com
