  2. All around Virginia we're breaking out the moonshine...er, ah, I mean, the champagne. Congrats to the Woods Brothers of Stuart, VA. Loved that paint job, too. Brought back loads of memories.

That was the best 500 in a long time. Lets hope this season continues to be as good. That kid is going to be fun to watch.

Glad to see the youg man and the old guys win the same race. The best part of the race was the last 3 laps. The rest of the race looked like they were pulling trailers with there 2 car drafts.

Congrats to both Trevor and the Woods Brothers. I hope this win gets Trevor a full time ride this season, he deserves it.

    Or the #48 :D

I'm a Mark Martin fan myself but the family and I were rooting for Trevor to win at the end.

Congrats to Trevor and the Wood Brothers!

That was a well deserved win. Bayne was bad fast all week, kept his nose clean for 500 miles, and took the checkers. I was there the last time the 21 was in Victory Lane at the Daytona 500, and it was great seeing them there today.

I just thought it was good to see the big bank roll teams get there ass handed to them by a team that has paved a way for them to even be around. Congrats to the Woods team.

Surprised to see this on the HAMB but I too sure liked seeing Woods Bros. with a win and the 21 car in victory lane.

Had wanted a win for Wood's team when Kenny Schrader and Bobby Labonte were driving for them the last couple of years but cannot argue with a win with Trevor Bayne as driver; could give them a good future.

Nice that Labonte was in line to help push him at the end. Been good if Bobby could have got second.

I'm not a Ford guy,but I'm so happy for Trevor Bayne and the Wood Brothers. That was a great finish. It was good to see a new guy win,and with an old school team to boot.

Dirt trackin' still rules though. :)

  17. Congratulations to Glenn, Leonard, Eddie, Len, Donnie, Trevor and the entire Woods family on a magnificent win!
It was also great to see Mr. Ford in victory lane. Not too many car companies can claim that kind of living legacy but Ford sure can.

Back in the 70s, when the Woods were winning all the time, they only ran partial schedules. Kinda makes you think...

1-2-3 Ford finish, what a nice day! Congrats to the Wood Bros. Now that a Ford won, Nascar will change the rules AGAIN! Lets see, next week they have to remove two spark plugs.

  21. Yes it does and that is absolutely true...one season I think they won 50% of their races...NASCAR would shit their proverbial pants if a part-schedule team started winning a lot....that would not fit with their 'marketing strategy'.

Hard to believe two years ago he was at Central High School, good win and congratulations to Wood Bros. I noticed the "cat in the hat" was over to congratulate him. Way to go Ford and Edwards too.

This is exactly what Nascar needed to happen. The last several years crowds have fallen off, and Nascar has become boring. Great to see someone new win, and all the big money teams have a bad day. And not a scratch on that 21 car, except the nose where he was pushing everyone all day.

It was fantastic to see the Wood Bros. back in victory lane and especially at Daytona. And what about Trevor Bayne.......awesome performance by a very talented young man. And very well mannered young man too !!!

Wood Bros. last Daytona 500 win came 35 years ago in 1976 with David Pearson beating the 43 car when they crashed coming to the checkered flag. It was the same paint scheme, and Pearson was just announced to be put in the Hall of Fame, and Trevor just met Pearson earlier in the week. It was also great to see Richard Petty as one of the first people in victory lane to congratulate Mr. Wood.

Someone writing a book could not have scripted it any better than the way it turned out !!!

Not often that you can sit on the edge of your seat in front of the tv and cheer for a young man on his way to winning his first cup race with one of the racing teams you followed back when and be happy as hell that got the win but it happened today.
A fine effort and he didn't let it get away from him in the last quarter of a mile.

  28. Great thread...

Congrats to the Wood Brothers, and T. Bayne !

".. the Wood Brothers win today with the 20yr old rookie was a great win! Nice to have anyone but Gordon or Johnson in the winners circle..."

........... ^ this is the best part !!

This is the stuff that makes somebody at the age of 5 dream of becoming a racecar driver. I was one of them 5 year olds, but wasnt as commited as Trevor Bayne. Congrats to him, and the Wood Bros. for a Daytona that should go down as one of the best. Not only was the style of racing interesting, and yes a bit boring at times, and sometimes a crash fest, but those are all vital ingredients of racing. (Jockying for position, finding what makes your car perform to its full potential, and for some finding that line and then crossing it disasterously) I thoroughly enjoyed todays race and was glad to see clean, smart, and hard driving is what WON this race.
