After I finish filling the rest of the holes in my trunk, and clean off the rest of the rust,I need to paint it.No show car,it won't ever be displayed with the trunk open, and matching gas, oil, and water cans. It would be much easier if I could spray can paint it,and be done with it. What's the toughest paint I can use?Anything stand out as being at least a little tougher than run of the mill paint? How about Rustoleum? Is it as tough as it used to be? Thanks in advance, folks.
Don't know about durability-but watch closely what it is pressurized with. May sound stupid but I once used a can spray-you know the type with white specs in it-I painted some and like an idiot since I was in an underground garage used my zippo to take a look and...........BOOM! Been rattle canning for years and this was the first time I saw one with butane in it!!!!! Lost my eye brows and they never grew back!!!!!!
herculiner, put it in the trunk of 2 of my cars, looks very good, more burable than any paint....i love it.........no spray though, even better.....put it on with a roller......i like it so much i did the whole floor of one of my cars, never have to vacuum again....just hose it out....and looks like new again
Thanks guys..Should have thought of that myself, must have killed too many brain cells in the garage lately...not like I have any to spare,either...
hahahaha! thats funny! good thing nothing bad happened, good thing hair grows back! as for trunk paint, i did the same thing with the stone paint in a can! its been about 10 years and its still going strong. the best thing about it is, ive never touch it up. and it still looks like i sprayed it yesterday!
Yeah, badliner and rubberized undercoat look good, but they still LOOK like what they are! Here is the BEST...............Zolatone! This stuff looks just like regualr truck paint, 1 or 2 different colored specks in a base color, but it's tough as nails! I've been doing all my customs, even resto's with this stuff and it's great. Comes in a huge variety of color combinations, from stuck trunk paint colors to crazy combinations, like Camo, white-on-white, etc. TCP Global has them in stock, but I found I can also order them from my local autobody shop supplier.
