I ran across this post searching the web for pics of Lawton Motorsports Park and thought I remembered the little Opel. I took this shot around 1982 best I can remember. Not anybody I knew at the time but pretty sure it is the same car. Hope the OP see's this. bert
welll fast forward to 2012 season, we have had the opel apart all winter, stripped 4 paint jobs off of the body and fixed a bunch of cracks etc. put a new front axle, spindles four link etc under it and redid the coil over mounts on the front, had it scaled and aligned 1592 lbs less driver..... I put the original name that was on it when born again. here are a few pics of this yrs car . we will be at the ardmore whitewall and drags race may 13th.... see ya there, thanks...............sam
Just found your build thread, Great job rebuilding the car, Great to see another old funny car being saved. Tim Jones
I was wondering what happened to that project. As usual it turned out great. It should be a blast to drive.
Hey Charlie, good to hear from you and thanks, it has been fun for sure. if it will go straight now we will motor up and try for some low 5 second 1/8th s in the future...
ok we test tomorrow, spent last night and today making the roof hatch fit, I had scottrods make me a roof section from one he had in the shop, then cut it and worked it to fit the hole in the roof.... painted it and found some hinges that would work and velcro and walla there it is the last piece to the puzzle. looks like we are officially done, till we think of somehting else of course. hope it drives straight as we think it will tomorrow night. thanks to all of you guys for watching this thing come back to life... It has been a fun ride, now it will be a fun ride for catman...... back to the willys pickup project next week.... stay tuned.
Car looks good and nice save on the rear wheels. Wondered what you could do to give them a earlier look.
