Just came into BEL RED AUTO REBUILD and have 2 weeks...the boss says. The paint is lifting in all area's , so we will take it down to metal and get it cleaned up for epoxy .The body is very solid and really a clean car overall.
Sorry guys ...My name is Bj I run the lynnwood shop where this fine car is at now. We have many projects in progress but this is the most important one of them all .Bel Red auto rebuild has 3 locations . Bellevue,Lynnwood,Everett .We have been around for more then 30 years but our shops up north have been open for 2 years as of now . we have 3 guys on it right now and might need about 10 ...lol
lol, i know we could use the extra help....The car is a very solid car though ....NOT A GROUND UP THANK GOD.
How are you stripping the car? Just sanding, or using some kind of chemical stripper? Ambitious project, i hope it goes well.
Nice ,i did a full repaint on my 56 "150" a few years ago ,but it took me more like 3 months.I was working solo on it though and had to replace the outer rockers and redo alot of poor body work at the same time .It was a damn shame cuz it was a real nice base /clear finish otherwise ...
Are you going to cut out all those brazed in panels and repair it the right way or does the owner want a "quickie" ?
My '48 fPontiac convert has brazed patches, done in '78 when all I had was a brazing tip and lot's of ambition. I figured that was fixing it right, compared to the pop-rivet patches it had when I got it. It's still wearing the same paint, no bubbling over the patch panels after 31 years. Considering how rusty the car was when I got in '74, when it was then 26 years old, I feel pretty confident that my "quickie" patch panel job is more "permanent" than "quickie", 'cause I'm not planning on re-doing the car anytime soon! Brian
The brazed area's are in good shape so we will clean them up and move forward . This car is in great shape and just needs a fresh paint job due to issues with the paint job done many years ago.
I'd say it is a decent car...but damn clean car? To me, it is decent because it has had rust and been patched up. Will be nice when it is done I'm sure.
