Yeah, it's a optical illusion that I see too from certain angles. We've measured it, it's the exact same top to bottom.

There is a few modifications that I think contribute to this. The main one being that the engine is raised for clearance reasons, so that nothing hangs below the frame rails. I think it changes the angle of the motor a hair( to where it's basically level) and the angle of the fan compared to the radiator creates the illusion.

Also, there is a hood for the car, and there have been some modifications to that to make the body line continue downward into the hood towards the grill. The grill is lowered an inch. And the hood is pie-cut 3/8". Plus, the grill shell has a pretty pronounced peak which might accentuate it a bit more.

But mainly, I think it's mainly from the motor being raised. Cuz I look at a few other cars Dave Lane has built(button's 3w, poteet's 5w) and they are the same, you just can't tell cuz they have the hood on. It is very minimal and u only see it from a few angles.

And it's a good deal in my book cuz it really improves the drivability of a car that is dangerously low:)

Fantastic car er........................Hot Rod. For those who commented about the grille leaning forward. If you get a chance measure a stock '32 hood side panel........................it's longer at the top than at the bottom. A stock '32 grille shell on a stock car leans forward. I about fainted when I found this out, always thought the grille stood straight up...........nope:eek:!!!. I've owned '32's for over 40 years and it wasn't until about 3 years ago we discovered this while measuring for a custom (longer) hood.

Okay,I'm going to bring my ignorance fully into the sunlight. Are those front tyres bias ply or radial, because for the life of me, unless you're talking piecrusts versus "aggressive" modern tread patterns, sometimes I just can't tell the difference. Please bear in mind that I run radial whitewalls on a fully fendered Kustom, so to me a tyre just looks okay or it doesn't, and those do. Please don't beat me with too big a stick, I am English, and I am here to learn.

The older my eyes get, the more I speculate......... don't get me wrong, it's a Badass Car, just couldn't quite figure that angle out, the spot on rake might have something to do with it.

Yeah, this is why I never comment on hot Rod threads. Over here in England, we don't have your rich hot Rod history, and tyres are just round rubber things with holes in the middle for the wheels.I only ask cos my American classic radials have a similar tread pattern. Pardon me for trying to learn something. Guess I'll just stick to my Kustom.

I find that 35 years later I'm in the same boat. Never heard the words pie crust years ago. Changing from bias over to radials in '72 meant you had a "driver" of a car. Opinions are like...never mind!

No worries! Trust me, there is a reason we had measured..,

As for the front tires, they are the145r15 Firestone Blackwall radials that Coker sell(bought with our trusty HAMB Alliance discount). They have nice older look...

I know a lot of people on here cringe about radials on fenderless cars, but with a late 60's era build...I think it is completely fine.
