the progress on the A ch***is has stalled abit but I have a few more questions... can anyone detail how to make a "dead perch" for the front? anyone use the 67-72 chevy p/u columns in their A's, got any advise / pointers? What have you guys used for firewall mounted m/c's, I dont want to go under the floor I dont think, the car will be drums all the way around... thanks-
i used a wilwood reverse mount hanging pedals in my A had to use the short pedals cause of the section and channel on the cab.
I have an A bone with drums all around. I have a simple fruit jar set up and it works fine. It is mounted on the rail and not on the firewall. The fire wall in my opinion is too small and it looks cluttered with it up there. Besides (***uming that you paint it) Dot 3 will pull the paint off. To check the fluid I have cut a hole in the floor board and can service it that way. Be careful about mounting stuff on an A frame in that when you stand away from the car you see everything. (transmission hanging down, etc). It looks cool to some, weird to others. this is because the A frame rail is much shallower then the 32 and newer. I don't know what a dead perch is so I cannot help there. I have a steering colum out of a ford econoline van. It works well, but I would probably buy a new colomn as I cannot seem to rebuild it without some play left. Further, by the time I got done filing in holes and dents and replacing bearings I could have just bought a new one!
A dead perch is a direct mount of the spring without a shackle. Here's a link to one, you can use it for a guide if you want to make one. I would spend the money for a commercial one - I'm picky when it comes to suspension. http://www.deucesteel.com/DSB11050.html Mutt
don't use a dead perch , they were fine on dirt track cars going left , but in my opinion don't work worth a **** on a street car...use a panard rod instead
