Can anyone help me identify this Ford heater box? I picked it up at a vintage parts flea market this past weekend and plan on using it in my '39 Ford truck. It has a piece of tape marked '41 - '46 Ford. I searched '41 thru '50 Ford heater boxes on ebay and found nothing that matched this one.
I know I had a few in some of the '48-50 parts trucks I've had. My '49 had one in as stock. They're pretty ****py units, IMO, Ford stuck the blower motor under the right front fender and all the road **** flew up and air tube and fan always rotted out.
Thanks for the replies. Now I know about what to look for in a heator core. Maybe I can rig it a little better than Ford did back in the day.
Over on the Ford Truck Enthusiasts' site they've used a few different newer cores: PROLIANCE heater core: # 399204 is for a 1960-67 jeep #399406 for a international scout 1970-77 #399020 is for a 1968 ford galaxie 500 They all needed a little tweaking to make fit but nothing drastic.
