My friend Garrett has a 62 Falcon with a 170 attached to a 3spd manual on the column.
The question is can he swap that 3spd out for a 2spd Ford-O-Matic with out having to do much altering?
He'd like to have the shift on the floor.
What would be needed and would it feasable money wise?
    Thanks for the help.

It's feasable, and not too hard, but that trans is almost completely worthless!! He would be far further ahead to find a later sixties or seventies 200/C4 combo if he absolutely MUST have an automatic. Not much harder to do, much, much improvement.

not worth doing ford o swap
i have one would rather have the 3 speed
c4 is better choice for automatic swap

in my opinion keep the stick and do a t5 5speed
better for freeway driving and better gas milage with a stick

Thanks for the input, Blades posted this for me, I don't get a chance to get on here to much.

My reasoning for the swap is I mostly drive the car in the city so the shifting every 2 seconds gets old , I found a fordomatic 2 speed that has been rebuilt and has a shift kit installed for pretty cheap. Just thought if it was an easy swap it might be worth having 2 calf muscles the same size again!

C4 would be the goods or even a borgwarner 35 if your not looking for max hp thats if you have those boxes.
Ive had C4s borgwarners singlerails ford-o-matic and soon to be putting a T5 in my 64, pick of the bunch for city cruzin is the C4.

Just find you C4 and a floor shifter out of a Mustang. Its a shame to retire that 3rd pedal though.

3rd pedals are cool, but in a city like Chicago... Forget about it. The constant stop and go is murder.

c4 is much better in the long run. your car will take off quicker with a c4 than the ford o matic. trust me...my 2spd is sittin on the garage floor. just make sure you find the correct bellhousing, 6's were different than v8's.

I have one down here in Texas. Actually they call it a C3. Was behind a 200 6 in a 64 Comet that we are putting a 427 in. Complete engne and trans is available. Engine and trans work just fine, carb needs a float.

Yeah its possible, would not be hard. You might want to change out the rear end not that it incompatable, but its really slow taking off on the highway. I had a 61 with a 2 speed fordomatic. I had to floor it to get on the 95 during rush hour.

My brother had a c4 put in his 63 ranchero and used the stock 3 speed column
Shifter modified to work with the automatic. Only difference is that the shifting goes from right to left
