Looks like I'll have to drag the 61 up there and see what it will do.
Are there any places to stay or camping?

I'm all for it as long as it's not ******** 1/8 mile stuff. A real 1/4 mile is what's needed. I don't know what the situation down there is but I do know that Rockingham has been much easier to work with since they lost a few races the past year or so. And what is the strip down outside of Atlanta? I believe it's 1/4 mile as well....

    [/ QUOTE ]
Been to an old strip just outside Atlanta. Southeastern Drag Strip, Dallas GA. but it is a pissy 1/8th mile!
Apparently Mr Petty made it famous or infamous as the case may be when he wiped out some spectators, this was during his break from nascar.

If it's gonna be this year, November 20 is the only open date. It's listed as "Test n Tune", which means that nothing is scheduled.
That might be a good weekend. The big Moultrie swap meet is November 19-21. You could hit Moultrie on Friday, do the drags Saturday and head home Sunday.
My shop will be available for wrenching.

If there was any interest in Lakeland dragstrip... s****yard told me that he and his stunt-bike buddies have keys to the strip, and are freinds with the owner. It sounds like a freindly situation... he said they go out there and practice with their bikes alot.

Although I think it was Henry Floored that was looking for a venue in Florida....

First look at dates... try and not conflict with any other "like" events...

Come up with a spiffy name.... "Down Home Drags" or something else...

Do some gr***roots promotion.. flyers, internet ads, etc...

    Get a host hotel...

It's not to hard and I'd be willing to help. PM or email me if you want to discuss it some more. I can help with a website and some bandwidth on my server. Maybe some promotional help, etc...

The big months in Fla are March, April, July 4th and then October, November. These are usually booked up with car/bike events. Last year's spring Daytona Show/Swap was the same weekend as Gatornationals, Sebring and Myrtle Beach show, very light crowd.

Let me know when and I will run the ole 61. What rules apply? Bracket and/or heads up?

    Great Idea!!!

hey tudor yes you can camp there. however there are no showers persay. there is one shower but it's out in the open. i have used it with swimtrunks. geuss it depends how bad you want to shower and how modest you are. cold shower by the way. bring your food and grill as well. not really to many places to eat there. they have the usual carnival food that's good for the runs the next day. i go for the harley drags in april. it's always a great time. live band, wet tshirt, etc. beer oh yea! cold mf beer!! bring that with you as well. it's a nice drive down there thru the country. now all we need is jamie and his dad to get the date set. this could be a cool annual event. i suggest having it during a test and tune weekend and let everyone check it out. it's a big place aroung the track that we could all set up together anddo our own thing.
