The question posed about the "HAMB Drags moving to Phoenix ?" reminded me of this; that, and the post about Amarillo Dragway for sale at $350,000.00 for 60 acres of land, plus the option of 47 more acres with a home. A lot of interest was generated, but what happened as far as who purchased Hallsville, and for what purpose? Amarillo sounds like a much better deal, and definitely a dryer heat. I'd step up with 100 grand, maybe even 150 grand; but, it would have to be an all-cash-in deal, bought and paid for, and still zoned for racing.
I'd read somewhere, fairly recently, that the Hallsville Drag Strip was sold, and is being developed for what else, residential, tract, homes. Butch/56sedandelivery.

I was by there a month or so ago. It has been stripped clean, leveled and is being prepped for a mobile home park i heard. The strip is the only thing left and will be the main entrance drive into the park.
This is Hallsville Texas by the way. Just did a search and it looks like there was a Hallsville Arkansas track as well?
I went to LeTourneau College in Longview from 83 to 85 and ran my 78 Camaro at Hallsville. From a drag strip to a trailer court... heavy sigh.
The only thing left is after you go through the main gate you are immediately on the old strip. At least they left that part if that's any consolation.
I GoogleMap.Com'd it, and there are houses, not trailers on the former Hallsville Drag Strip on what has been renamed Highland Blvd. GoogleMap.Com, and follow FM450 out of Hallsville north; the former track is located at 3502 FM450; the "older" track is just a little more north at 2824 FM450. That track was two separate lanes and ran diagonally to FM450. Towards the end of that track is a dirt circle track, also defunct. There are equipment and trucks parked on the start line area of that track also. Pretty amazing what satellite imaging can show us now. We should have pooled our finances and bought the place!!!
