Billy told the story at So-Cal exactly the same way and rather that use my awesome one finger typing skills and take a half hour to type it I used"Google" and "cut and paste" to speed things up. I am surprised this bothered you enough to diss me in another post when you obviously got your info at the same place!
Because he's bald. That hat specifically, for the reasons stated above by Vintagehotrods. I was at So-Cal AZ that night when he dropped by as well. I was thanking Pete for the evening when Billy walked up to say goodbye to him. A friend took this one.
actually, i used my fingers a few years ago, and found the information on a youtube video today, i checked the SPELLING of the tribal name, and that is what popped up
i just re-read my post... and i just dont see where i called you out either... i asked a question, cause it would have been pretty cool as that seems like a well run place. sorry if it appeared as if i **** in your coco and called it a marshmallow
During the years I operated and then owned a shop several magazine articles were written about us. In one of those the author said I looked like the 4th member of ZZ Top. Some of my friends gave me a hard time about it. By coincidence I bought a '48 Cadillac coupe/fastback project car around that same time. Although I think I am better looking, if I ever meet any of the ZZ guys I'm going to mention that article.
Very cool......I met him back in 1983......and he was a super nice guy back then....Who won the beard contest? Chris Nelson Kansas
Very cool, Javier... I met him at the Continental Club several years ago, it was a Sunday night, and Brad Paisley had just recorded an Austin City Limits show, and dropped-by to play with Redd and Heybale!... and I guess Billy was in town, and they dragged him up onstage, too... Later that night, I ran into him on the sidewalk out front, and I had a guitar with me, so I could get Brad to sign it, and Billy did, too... only he didn't really SIGN it, so much as draw a cartoon on it... (in the middle, just above the pickguard) Billy was great, I'd LOVE to have 1/2 hour someday to talk cars...
This is a picture of me with Billy Gibbons at the So-CAL open house, standing in front of our roadster that we drove to CA from CT in 2006. He was just the nicest person. I asked him if I could take a picture of him in front of my hot rod, and he said, "Give the camera to my friend and he will take a picture of both of us". I was freaked out as you can see. Now look how he is dressed.....it's 90 freakin' degrees out and he looks like he is freezing!
I play guitar,Love ZZ Top and Billy's playing taught me how to control my sloppy blues playing into a more smooth sustained style. He is indeed the bearded god! Deguelo's my fav.album
Here is the Man in Stockholm Sweden with my tudor. Never met him unfortunatly... didn't own the car then, but from what i heard Billy was given a ride around town in it before a concert.
I had a chance to buy one of those Marshall cabinets. Danny Thorpe turned me on to it. It showed up at Ray Hennig's with the ZZTop stencil on the back of it. Screwed up and didn't buy it.
What a picture! Aint that them Moving Sidewalks? and w/the Jimi? Wow, dem sum oldies. I have met him several times and he never ceases to flat amaze me. I used to be a musician in a former life and his pickin is bout da bes I evr hurd, bar non AND he is sum kinda Kar guy to boot. His style in music AND cars is jus my styl!
Met Billy three times, first at Daytona Bike week for the 50th. He led the parade to the track with Cadzilla and Hogzilla, got to talk to him at infield . He was at the Nats in Lville a few years ago signing autographs, hung out with him a while. Finally, he was at SEMA about three years ago in the American booth. Three autographs, and I aint an autograph guy, but its Billy. Hell of a nice guy.
Man you all sound like a bunch of School Girls ... He Is Just a Man like all of you, Nothing more & Nothing Less. I have seen him & Met him Many Times at shows around California, Always has several "Puppy's" Following him around trying to look Cool, Always wearing that Funky Stinky hat. Its a sad day when a Man cant be in control of Himself when a Celebrity is in the Vacinity. Sorry for the Downer, But JEEEZuS ..... Hes Just a Man with a Guitar I met Billy, Jimmy Vaughn & James Hetfield At shows & None of them were very Friendly
Think you're reading too much into this, BUT, is Winfield a Celebrity? How about Barris, is he a Celebrity? Lots of threads about them, and nobody calls the guys posting Little Girls. People are people, and enjoy meeting famous, even semi famous people.Thats why manufacturers hire them to stand in booths to attract customers. Its human nature. Sounds to me like you had a bad experience. Girlfriend run away with a guitar player.
Billy's got a few cool cars and he's a rock star but I really want to meet DE SOTO. He says want many think!
I would so love to meet Billy! He is buddies with Billy Bob Thornton who was born in the town of Alpine here in Arkansas. They say Billy Bob brought Billy with him to an uncle's birthday party up there, but it hasn't been verified. I can't decide if I like him better as a car guy or musician! The ZZ Top catalog is tough to beat IMO.
I met Paul Newman at road america 30+ years ago. I saw grown men make ***es out of themselves to get his autograph. He seemed pretty put out by all the attention and said he wanted to treated like a race car driver not some movie star . We hung out with him awhile in the pits,he was cool about being treated like one of the guys not some celebrity. Billys cool but he's no Paul Newman..............................
I farted at the Thanksgiving dinner table with Maranda Lambert. I didnt think it was funny, but everyone else had a ball.
