Ford F-1 tailgate and running board recommendations?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by GreenMonster48, Feb 25, 2011.

  1. After getting "driver quality" used pieces off the net and realizing they're ****, I decided I'm just going to pull the trigger and buy reproduction running boards and a tailgate. Just wondering who has the best product or if they're all the same, how's the quality? Most of the re-pop stuff I've purchased recently has been garbage and has given me a strong aversion to continuing work on my truck. Thanks

I bought mine from denis carpenters, very happy with fitmentent. I went through same issue as you before i bit the bullet. "quality" used stuff is sometimes over 50% of new and its still ****. no regrets.

Depends on how pickey you are. I still had to do body work to the tail gate I bought. I believe they all come from the same place. So, price is where it's at.

Mack Products, Moberly, MO for tailgates and bed parts.

Not sure if they make running boards or not, but they're online.

I bought steel bed parts from northern cl***ic trucks and was real happy with the quality....plus they ARE the manufacturer.

Bought my tailgate from Dennis Carpenter and I'm very happy, still had to do some work to them as I deleted the latch system, but overall very good fitment.

I bought steel re-pop running boards from NPD. They were damn near perfect out of the box, had to work one wave on one, and a bent tab (non showing area) on the other. Check closely, they have different grades of re pops, mine were about $700 for the pair, are supposed to be better than the $500 set.

The steel tailgate came from Dennis Carpenter, pretty nice also.

  11. Never knew that place existed. Might go check him out and give the locals some money for once.

    Thanks everyone!

I got my entire box (tailgate, wood floor, etc.) from Pro's Pick, after the original one was destroyed by an old man who could no longer see stop signs. Fit and Finish was exceptional and their customer service was great.

  13. FWIW I bought the tailgate from Northern Cl***ic Trucks and the running boards from Rock Valley. VERY happy with both.
