I'm a lucky fool... I've wanted a 59 caddy for a long time and now I have one. ...well actually... two. I'm still in shock. ...I got a goooood deal. The coupe will go to my ol' man if he can come up with the funds without spending the money on one of his millions of projects (all not cars). Its looking more and more like I'll be keeping it as well... its a shame. I almost feel like an ***hole posting this. haha But damn! I gotta brag to someone!!! They've been sitting in the garage for the last 10 years and I will be asking some tech advice later today. Already been fiddling with the coupe.
Man, I'm not even a big fan of Caddies, and I gotta say, you are a lucky fool! The two-door looks like you could just cruise it with a fresh paint job. Have fun! Later, *****6
Gotta love the 69 caddy. It's the only car I've ever owned that made EVERYBODY smile when they saw it.
Yeah, people either like the 59 cadillac, or hate it. I love em and like I said I've wanted one for a long time. Although I will agree, the "lines" on a 60 are "better", but I still prefer the 59 to the 60. ...gotta love them fins! The coupe just needs a paint job and the dash recovered. ...and I need to get it running too. The flat top is real nice! Better shape than the coupe. Just need to get it running as well. I went up to buy em both and bring one back and get the other on another trip. The picture taken was about 15 minutes from where I picked up the car. Suprisingly that is THE James Dean grave. The grave wasnt easy to find either. Pretty funny driving all over a graveyard pulling a 59 caddy behind you.
GM refered to the 4dr. hdt. in 59',60' as a "vista roof" according to the sales brochures, great find!
Yep. Vista roof it is. I also believe people often refer to the flat top as the sport sedan. ...can't wait to drive one of em!!!
Man i envy you!!!!!!! Love to have a 59 one of these days. Not really HAMB Friendly but a guy here in town built this one years ago .
Watch out for those brakes. A Buddy loaned me his sweet '60 Caddy after it had been sitting for a long while. Charges the battery, and she ran great. Left his place and 5 miles later the brake pedal went straight to the floor, and didn't come back up. I was on a cul de sac hill, and that thing started pickin' up speed like a locomotive. Parked cars all the way down the hill on both sides so running it into the curb wasn't an option. Tried EVERYTHING, but the time came when I just had to put my feet up on the dash cover my head, and say a quick prayer. There was a row of parked cars at the bottom, including my brothers '65 Barracuda. I veered next to it and aimed for a Mazda RX7. PLOWED into it, sending it through a guard rail, and sent them both down into a ravine below. I looked up just in time to see the belly of that Mazda flying through the air. Didn't slow me down a bit. I followed it down into the ravine, crashing down on a pipe hand rail that was along side the stairs going done the ravine, corkscrewed it, and rammed one of the uprights for it down between the engine, and ch***is, then ripped it from the cement, before coming to a stop at about a 45 degree angle. All I got was a little scratch when I climbed out the side windows. It took 2 tow trucks to pull that barge back up to the street, one of 'em snapped his cable, SOOOOOOO..... check those brakes. I heard from an old Caddy Dude that if they sit, they dry up. Wish I could have been one of the people at the bottom of the cul de sac watching the whole thing. Must have been a real show.
