    Good evening all,
From this tread http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=486259 I got a set of merc style skirts for my 50 chevy from night prowlers.

I've decided to make them flush mount, and I thought I'd share this journy with ya.

First step was to support it up on the car, mark it from the back and cut a bunch of the excess off. The first pic shows how much larger they are compared to the opening.

Once the extra "U" lip around the outside is removed, let's check and see how well they fit.
As you can see, the front lower corner is going to be the pain.....

I'm not sure if it's the skirt, or the patch panel I put in there, but there is a 3/8" gap at the bottom.

After a few hours of fine tuning the size of the skirt, I got it fitting the hole nicely.
There is still a gap on the bottom, but I'll work on that tomorrow.
    Stay tuned.

Alright Dirty......quit looking up her skirt ;)

    Thanks for the compliment!

I decided to extend the rib down and under.
The first pic you can see the cardboard form which is wrapped in clear packing tape.

2 thin coats of gl*** and I can pull it off carefully. The resin didn't stick to the tape very hard at all. It does look like *** though

Last shot shows after 6 coats of gl*** on the back side and some grinding, the basic shape is there.

The next installment will be a mounting system, I've got an experiment drying right now.

    Thanks man!

Got the p***engers side finished up!

First shot is the brackets I made, 2 simple L brackets with small SST screws which go up onto small holes in the fender lip, and 2 barrel latches.
The yellow goop is plastic welder, a 2 part epoxy I found at Oreily's, We wuse the same stuff at work to glue composites together, strong stuff, but I'll put some gl*** on just cause

    And a final money shot.
Just gota do the other side now.

I like the idea of using gate latches. Never thought of that.
