I finally got my T5 installed behind my 52 Flathead and she drives great, shifts well and is very smooth!! New bearings, clutch, drive shaft etc.

I am noticing a slight s****ing sound though when driving. Not loud or grinding, but a noticeable sound. I also have about 3" of free pedal before pedal engagement. Im thinking I need to adjust my clutch linkage, but figured I'd ask. This is my first trans swap, so I'm learning as I go.

    Thanks guys! :)

if your using one of those cast alum belhousings with a long style ford pressure plate the the 3 bobweights will s****e the insidewhen you rev it i always have to grind around the inside for clearance

Jetmek is correct. I know you dont want to hear this, but its time to take it all apart to see what has been touching. When you find the marks, make more room for that part. If yours has a removable lower pan, remove that and look up in there with a bright light and a little mirror. This is also the time to adjust the clutch free play. You want the return spring to just pull the throw out bearing away from the fingers, .030 to .100 is about right. If the clutch pedal has 3/4 to 1 1/2 inch free play it should be good.

Im actually running the stock bellhousing, with an adapter plate. but will check my spring and pedal. Like I said, I have a little too much free play in my pedal before it engages. After the install, the removal will be a piece of cake! :)

  7. I've had a situation where the center of the clutch disc was rubbing the flywheel bolts. I think my flywheel had been shaved a few times in its life. That could be your problem too. I'd pull it apart before what ever the rub is creates a bigger problem for ya..

  8. Jetmek an Ole Don are right with that type bellhousing.

    Reggie is also correct.

You may need just that... correct flywheel bolts. Not regular bolts as the heads are taller then flywheel bolts. If you have a good GRADE bolt, you could shave the head a little. Correct bolts with wire ties are nice!
