    Al, thanks for the pictures!

Three car builders had the same bad dream with the radiator support covers under the hood fronts. Why not just go to a pancake hood?

Copycats? or lack of original thought?
I don't like to criticize, to each his own, but???WTF?

  2. The ragtop is very nice, however I like the 40 better. I agree, lame year for these 8 finalists, not real worthy rides.

    horrible.its that simple.

  5. I stopped by the booth yesterrday, and the guy said "Al WHO?" Sorry I missed you big guy.
My crew discussed the cars at dinner last night, and came to this conclusion. Lots of great workmanship, but very little in inovation and design in this years Average Eight.

Just got back from the show. The 56 Ford or possibly the early 60's vette are the only two with a chance. The 56 is hands down the winner in my opinion, that green truck was an embar***ment to the Great 8 ***le... The Imperial Speedster should have made the cut or maybe something else.. but the truck should not have been in the great 12.

My pictures will be up later today or tomorrow..

The blue 32 is one of the best cars in the show. Just one question, why the Lincoln valve covers on the Olds engine, that Olds is nothing to be ashamed of and if you wanted a Lincoln why not build a good strong 368.

If you are in need of some Ipecac and have found you are in short supply, just have a look at those pictures. [IMG]

The gray Ford has one of the best modern street rod upholstery jobs that I've seen, probably ever.

I think the Corvette is salvageable. Not a lot of good parts left, but I think I could save it. I'm thinking g***er.

The Riviera should be shown with the doors closed, windows tinted and rolled up. Or run an ad on it stating: Older custom build, needs interior.....

Im with you on this,If it where up to me on the covers they would have been painted dimple covers with Olds lettering on top of all the polished goodies.

One problem .....the man that was payin the bill on the engine wanted these,
To me,Never be ashamed of your engine...SBC,Olds,ect
To the uninformed, you cant believe how many times Ive heard someone think this motor is a different brand cause of the covers

Too bad the "Take-out T was shown at other venues before this show, it would be the "Ridler" winner, and well deserved too. What a boring "Great 8".

Thank for all the support guys. wish I was there to see that blue 32, it looks cool in the photos. I still would rather shake things up with ambr than win riddle.

Winner of the 2011 Ridler Award at Detroit Autorama is Bruce Ricks of Sapulta, OK with his outstanding 56 Ford I knew it was a serious contender for the Ridler

  16. Thanks God that was the winner, it was the first time I've ever been to the show, not as impressed as I thought I would have been. But the 56 ford was real nice, the other 7, not too sure about.

Nice to meet and talk to some of the other "Hamb" folks there. Had a great time.

I spent a lot of time looking at the various photos that guys posted of that one and it really spins my wheels.

Congrats to Bruce Ricks and the crew that built the 56. I rather liked the Corvette but the
    Ford is hell for nice.

Congratulations to builder Steve Cook and owner Bruce Ricks, I heard the interior was done by Gabe Lopez here in Socal...

  19. Boy Al you scared me. Looking at the ***le to the thread I thought you meant the winner was a real shock! The 56 is the only car in the compe***ion as far as the pictures tell the story.

I will be making the drive down to the show in Pa. next month. Looks like it's going to be a great show. Thanks for the heads up about it. Hope to see you there.

That truck is ridiculous. The reason we all liked that Ford is because it was the least modern-looking out of the bunch. Then again the Ridler contest is like American Idol- Sure the winner can sing, but they ain't the ****ing 'Stones and never will be.

Thanks for the coverage though Nitro.

Good. Glad that Ford got it. That green truck blows. Yet I had a teeming it was gonna win.

if i had to, i would have stood on a couple of the great 8 cars just to get a better look at the Takeout T. BEST CAR THERE!

  26. HAHAHAHA that is too funny,

And the 56 Ford was on of the nicest show cars I have ever seen.

His judges book was an actual hard cover book from a pro publisher.

Making his own fasteners was a high point for me.

All in all I feel there was no contest.

I'm not a big fan of those cars. I'm like traditional customs.
