i did a search but no luck. i have seen some pics on here of some door panel material on some roadsters, that lools like it is a cardboard material with maybe a black coating on it. i have seen it mounted to doors and kickpanels. trying to find out where i can get a sheet. its not perminent, just something to use until i get around to a complete interior, any help would be appreciated. thanks guys
I believe its upholstery board that your looking for, it comes in a sheet and you should be able to get it from a fabric shop or upholstery shop. It wont hold up long in a roadster if you drive alot without a top and it rains!!!
If youre talking Model "A", Not sure where you can get the cardboard youre looking for, but the door panels in my '31 phaeton ( same front doors as roadster ) are a heavy duty cardboard type material and are covered in black vinyl with a real simple pattern sewn in almost like a border. They are the original ones for the car also. If you want I could try and get some pics for you. Original style ones are available from Snyders, Brattons, Macs, Etc.
any upholstery shop will sell a sheet to you. i just did a temporary interior on a roadster by using the thinnest plywood 3/16 and wrapped it with batting and fabric that was adhered with spray mount. i then screwed them to the doors with finnish washers.
I used to order it for custom car stereo interiors ..... we just ordered it as KICK board. A coated flexible cardboard.
buy a 4'x8' sheet of 1/8" abs plastic and make the panels. they don't look bad with the textured side showing & getting caught in the rain won't effect them. Then when your ready you can have the same panels upholstered.
I'm not sure how big a town you're in, we have bakersfield plastics here. You can get it online but the shipping is probably a deal breaker. www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=23013 Good luck
Awhile back Rod & Custom mag had a roadster that the owner made his panels from plastic sheets made for shower enclosures that he got at a building supply store. Vinyl isn't as strong as ABS but it stands up to sunlight better. Dave
1/4" particle board, abs plastic, or just make a cardboard template and cut your own out of sheet metal and get wrapped in whatever materials later on
Hey Rich try some sign shops, as up here I've used it for some interior work and it comes in different thicknesses. Due North of
