I've got a cool set of chrome "Power by Ford" FE covers, but I really need to sell them with the 390 GT heads.

How far past at the rear of the head will the FE valve covers be ? Im looking at clearance to the fire wall on my 56 F100.

  12. These look very nice. I recently made a set to go from SBC center bolt heads to staggered or straight across Chevy and "Powered by Ford 289" SBF covers. I'm doing a +.040 283 - which becomes a 289. So, every now and then, I'll run those covers just to further plague one of my dyed-in-the-wool Ford pals.

It was a neat little exercise and all the lines about drove me nuts as I made a scribing pattern.

    More power to your project.

    I think I could use a set now,would like to make the 351 in my 55 sunliner resemble a 58 332 police interceptor or 60 360 hp 352.

This thread has seemed to die a couple years ago. I bought a set this spring at the Columbus swap meet. I can send you the info if you want. I don't want to step on the toes of the OP if he is still around (even though it appears he isn't).

I just remembered the drivers side valve cover is kissing the firewall so a larger valve cover could not be used.

"junk yard kid, I had the chevy ones with the o-ring. They leaked real bad so i took them off.[/QUOTE]

My set leaked real bad to,
The Pre 86 SBC valve cover to the 87 up SBC.
Adaptor to head & Valve Cover to Adaptor.
    After pulling apart several time's & #%<>}ss!!!
I realized why they where leaking ,
I did not Read the Instructions That YOU HAVE
    TO HAVE A MILL!!!!
When you install the adaptor , on the end side is bigger
Then old style valve cover (pre 86)
So the oil lays on top of the adaptor & leaks between the
    Valve cover & adaptor .
So What I did to solve the Oil Leaks Was Mill
    a 3/16 grove down the side's & across the bottom &
drill 1/8 holes inside the grove ,so the oil would drain in stead
of puddleing on the adaptor .
I also used a bead of black silicon between the adaptor & head
    without O-ring .
I went threw all this trouble ,because No one makes a nice looking
Finned Valve cover for 87 up sbc head's.
Before you buy those 87 up aluminum finned valve covers ,
Look at the bottom of the covers where the fin's start.

I bought a set this spring from a company called Medice Mfg. IIRC I paid $185. I am getting my valve covers painted now so I haven't tried them out yet but I hope to next week.
