I just finished my late 1950's custom. pinstripe or not trying to keep that look what you guys think ?
Hey man, relax a little. I really wasn't taking a pop at you, everybody on this board was a FNG to begin with. It's just hard to give an opinion without a look at the subject in question. Look forward to the photos. Paul
nice car. if it were mine id have just a couple nice small stripes put on by someone that is skilled at it.
Or 3 shades darker than the mint color, and something just a little "creamier" (ivory ?) than the white....if you want to stay really subtle.
subtle stripes X2. maybe pull the darker color from the interior as the main contrast color. Nice car striped or not.
tubby44, I love '58 Fords! Some subtle pinstriping would be nice. Some tasteful scallops would be nice. Leaving it the way it is would be kool, too. You can't go wrong whatever you do. Great car! Welcome to the HAMB!
Picture looks like it was actually taken "back in the day". Reminds me of some of my fathers rides. Not generally a custom guy, but that's a car anyone can appreciate.
If it were more radical, I'd suggest striping the door jambs and stuff like that, the "show points" places. On a car like yours, in my worthless opinion, I'd drive the hell out of it. Its a super nice car, and I wouldn't clutter it up with a lot of gingerbread. Maybe a few very subtle stripes here and there, and maybe some on the dummy spots even. Not that what I say means anything, other then that you've got a super-nice car. Do you know the color code? I'm kind of toying with the idea of mint for my car too
LOL! There are a lot of really nice cars here and yours definitely qualifies! My father loves the flipper style hubcaps. He was a teenager in Houston so it's not one of his, but he definitely would want to claim it!
I'd say leave the exterior alone, I'm really digging the straight two-tone. Minor striping on the dash and maybe trunk lid and call it at that.
VERY clean 58 you have there if it were mine i leave it as is but if you decide to stripe it ,im a firm believer in the "less is more" train of thought make it very subtle and tastefull
If it were mine I'd stripe it, then again that's what I do. I'd go just a shade or two darker green then ivory on top of that, and keep it subtle. Everything I stripe of my own I keep simple, and anytime a customer says 'do whatever you think looks good' - which is most of the time thankfully, I do the same. Striping should accent the car, not be the focal point. Seems the trend these days is HUGE pieces on cars, several of the guys I work for always want 'over the top' striping. Nice mild custom, BTW.
