Hoping someone has pics of the hood release mechanism for a '40-'41 Ford Pickup. Mine has had a late model cable latch installed (very poorly, too) and I am considering going back to the stock release. My problem is not knowing what it consists of or how it works. I know the front hood trim acts as a lever but don't know what the lever actuates since mine is missing. Thanks, Bluzman
I don't know how good these pics are, but pm me and I'll give you the number of a guy in Los Molinos Ca. I have gotten '41 truck parts from him. He has a s**** yard for early ford trucks. I found out the hard way that Ford offered a 6 cylinder option in '41. Of course that is what I had, and the grille support and hood latch are different for the longer engine. This guy had the part I needed.
Bluzman, Here's a drawing of the mechanism for 1940. From what we understand, all 1941 pickup hoods were designed for the 6 cylinder model (different upper brace and cross piece under the hood) even if the truck had a V8. We offer a few pieces for the V8, but you will have to find the "T" cross piece used.
