I got a TKO Suspension email too - about somebody putting a fraud notice on me or some ****e... go into ebay's Security Dept and click appropriate problem links.. and forward the original email to s****@ebay.com
Hey guys, Repeat after me: "eBay and PayPal will never contact me via email." Never open any mail addressed from them. Just delete it.
NEVER click on ANY link sent to you in a email from EBay,PayPal,or any other site that required registration and p***words. EVER. IF there is any question in your mind about the email being legimitate, click on the bookmark in your browser and contact them through the link there to verify the email or prove it false BTW,the email address to notify PayPal or EBay about these bogus messsages is s****@ebay.com s****@paypal.com Just hit the "forward" ****on on your mailer and forward the bogus message directly to ebay or paypal, and let them deal with it. You will usually get a answer from them in a couple of hours at the most.
Yeah, they will. They have no other way to get in contact with you other than on the telephone. They WILL send you emails, but they will NEVER send you a email telling you to click on a hot link for more information. What they WILL do is tell you to use your bookmarked link in your browswer to contact them for any explanation you might need,or to send them a email in return. Repeat after me,they will NEVER send you a email with a clickable/hot link in it to contact them. NEVER.
I got ****ed... Was just about the close three auctions for sale, and got this notice saying my account information needed to be updated. As it turned out, my credit card was about to expire, so I thought it was legit. Plus, the e-mail itself was constructed exactly like an ebay one--all the links were right, nothing looked bogus. I began to supply information, until it asked for a few weird things, like my checking account PIN. Some info got submitted (namely my SS#) before I forwarded it to ebay...only to find out it was bogus. Yeah, so now I have all new checking/savings accounts, credit cards, p***words, and all three credit bureaus have fraud alerts. March was a really fun financial month...and my *** still hurts. If the "other" Rob Fortier is out there, THANKS!
Yeah, I've gotten these from Ebay, PayPal, and the bank, too. Delete, Delete and Delete. More importantly than you deleating them, MAKE SURE YOUR SPOUSE KNOWS about these scams! I don't know if ebay would send a legit e-mail to my private e-mail address, but I do know they have a private message center in your e-mail account that they'll use to contact you--but you have to be on their site, under "My Ebay" to get to it. -Brad
