Made some calls today trying to find either a good c4 ****** or a 351 with a ******.Almost everything went south until I call a old drinking buddy and ended up buying a 351w with a ****** for $100.He was told when he bought it that it ran and worked great with 20,000 miles on both.So the daughters 64 galaxie is getting it dropped in.Should turn the new rubber real nice.

20k miles on a 351? What happened to the rest of the car? or is it 20k on a rebuild?
For a hundred bucks sounds to good to be true.

When I put out word that my son was wanting to build a rod, my buddy dropped off a 4 bolt main 350 with a th350. COMPLETE! It was in his garage from a 69 Suburban project that he had picked up a donor truck for. It has been my experience that if you tell people what you need and that it is for a younger person, people will help as much as possible. I could not even try to remember all the motorcycle parts I have given away because a younger guy needed them.

I'm going to have to +1 on this one. Engines are a strange animal to buy used...use caution..take nothing for granted and CHECK IT OUT before you run it!

It's a real close friend,he told me what he knew about it.And besides for $100 it can be rebuilt if needed and beats trying to find a good c4 for the 289 I have, which is for sale now.it turns over and that is all I know about it and is out of a 64 galaxie.

Nice score! Can't beat a running motor for $100.

Why not get the 289 running to see what it does before taking a chance on buying and changing another motor you dont really know anything about either and/or is there something wrong with the trans. already in it?

if the galaxie has the 6 bolt bell housing the 351 trans will bolt right up to the 289 . also remember that the 351 is a tall deck engine you may have clearance issues with the hood/aircleaner . brock (from here) and i ran into that problem with his OT 68 mustang .
