I am wondering if I get the paint code for a Nissan that is not produced for the U.S. market and buy paint for it when I get back to the States.

Do paint codes have some sort on international standard or ability to translate into another country's system?

I've considered buying paint here and bringing it back with me but that is a no go, the container company my stuff will be going with prohibits any flammables, if it has an MSDS, I can't take it.

Anyway, the color I'm looking at is Nissan Paris Blue for a Micra. It's a really neat color in person and pictures don't do it justice. A nice light blue with pearl in it.

find a small painted piece from a car, and bring it home, and have it matched.

any major paint company should be able to mix it for you. i'm a painter by trade and we have a line that was bought out by ppg. they were originally based in england so i have access to all jap and euro colors. let me go see if i can find it. standby...

the code is B41. it comes up in our computer so it shouldn't be a problem to get it mixed. anywhere that sells PPG should be able to hook you up, however, it is showing that is a 3-stage color. so it'll be like spraying a pearl white. 1st layer is color, second layer is a tinted pearl-coat and then clear. hope that helps man.-atomic

It does, quite a bit, and thank you very much.

Three stage huh? Pretty extravagant for an econo-car I'd imagine. But I have to say Nissan did one hell of a job on colors for those cars, there are more that would look right at home on any hot rod or custom.
