Looking for some info on a dragmaster ch***is. I'm looking at buying a supposed 1964 dragmaster fed. the wheelbase is 140 inches. Should there be any plates or numbers on the ch***is somewhere to tell what it really is?
I am pretty sure they are still in business, might be worth giving them a call, don't know if the original owners are still tied in, but I was out there about 8 yrs ago, and they had pictures and articles on the wall
Set aside a few hours of free time and use the search function on this board. Search for "dragmaster" "dragmaster ch***is" "FED ch***is", etc. Read up, do an intro and come back with any unanswered questions you may have.
The Dragmaster ch***is is visually specific in the driver compartment roll cage area. Do you have any pictures you could put up...also, what kind of rear end is in it....?
The Dragmaster shop that is open now knows nothing of the old diggers. Jim Nelson and Dode Martin are both still alive. Just this last year Dode unveiled a restored Masters Dragliner. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=520454&highlight=dragliner Here are a few pictures of mine under construction. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=477911&highlight=dragster+project The longer Dragmaster Dart was a 120 inch car but it wouldn't surprise me if they made longer ones as others did as well. Here are some Dragmaster links for you. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164920&highlight=dragmaster http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=453945&highlight=dragmaster http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=569&highlight=dragmaster
Some were indeed more than 120" -- Dragmaster welded up a 150" for Mickey Thompson, who ran a number of Dragmasters, there was a standard frame but they did custom-build them also...
After looking at some of the pics you guys had it looks like this one may have had another hoop added on at some time. thanks for all of the info you guys have gave me i really appreciate it.
The picture you put up, the car may have started as a '64 Dragmaster but it didn't wind up that way. The wheelbase is long for the era, the torsion bar is a later set up, and the roll cage, although I can see it has been added to, looks nothing like the original. As you can see from the original Dragmaster pictures that were put up, the old cars were quite a bit different than the yellow car. But, if you love the car, buy it and race the hell out of it and have some fun. If you are looking for the same car with the Dragmaster name on it with authenticity, this car isn't it. Unless you really know about this old stuff it's easy to get taken down the wrong road and pay the long dollar for something that isn't the real deal. Good luck......
It doesn't look like the Dragmasters I'm used to seeing but who knows, especially if custom ordered. For dragster ch***is refference... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=230419&highlight=dragster+ch***is
What kind of rearend is in that car. And do you have any other pics of it. Maybe rear view with out a body on it?
