I got a line on a 41 four door super deluxe that has a 283 hooked to the stock drivetrain, has leaves removed front and rear, and is amazingly rust free and in great shape body/interior wise. Its on a used car lot and they don't know much about its history other than it last ran and drove 3 years ago. The price is right even though its not what im looking for.

The point of all this is, Im curious to see other four doors from these years. hot rods, customs, stockers, back in the day, new. Anything. I have seen a handful of pics but nothing I can find now, So Im hoping rikster or one of you pic connoisseurs can help me out.

I know they werent cool back in the day and Ill probably catch shit for asking, but with 2 kids and a wife, maybe I can convince myself this car isn't totally lame.

    Thanks

I just picked up this one, and I'm LOVIN' it. 350/350, 10 bolt rear, and plenty of attitude.

I've got this coupe that I was going to do a body swap with the Fordor, but now I'm not sure, the Fordor has got a lotta' character, and the back suicide doors are kinda' Bitchin'. Plus the kids aren't interested in the coupe at all, but they REALLY dig the big Whale. It may get your kids into rodding...

Sound OK for a starter . If the engine turns over OK , then it will run . Those 283 engine were one of the best engines GM ever made . Strong and you can run the rpm's out past 7000 and not even worry a bit .

Just crawl up under the car and check out the frame real goo and any hack work and welding the last owner did . It's cheap for a reason ! If it's not what you are really looking for then why are you wanting to maybe buy it . Don't buy something just for the price . Buy what you want !

I was underneath it and it is very solid. motor turns over and car looks real well put together.

  10. My first car back in '67 was a '47 4 door.
Loved it and so dis all my mates.
Went everywhere in it, even when the flattie started running on 5.
Hard thing to kill for sure.

Do many people notice the differences from a US model?

we didn't notice until the trim on the front fenders didnt line up. (mercs are like 4 inches longer).

    the grill is narrower

parking lights are in the ford location.

misc other little differences. outter is mostly ford looking, interior is all merc.
