While Trans 123 buill has been killed, ANTI-OLD VEHICLE LEGISLATION is still in the works. Condensed interview with WIS. DMV Legislative Liaison(FROM HOT ROD RADIO):
Non-standard and Hobbyist vehicles are considered to be the same. NEW BILL IS BEING CONSIDERED BT WISDOT. Non-standard vehicles means manufactured before 1968 and also a vehicle that does not display a certification label from NHTSA vehicles before 1967. Your ***le and plates for non-standard vehicles could possibly be revoked at any time. WIS. DMV is currently holding up registration applications for vehicles that are "Hobbyist", "Street Modified" and "Replica"

Let's see that this doesn't go any further then it already has, start contacting everyone you know and legislators!!

***NO CONFIRMATION ON THIS, BUT SUPPOSEDLY THE GOVERNOR HAS ALSO SAID NO MORE ONE TIME AND YOUR DONE PLATES FOR HOBBYISTS AND COLLECTOR PLATES.(in Budget Repair Bill).

Definitely sounds bad. Wouldn't cars ***led and VIN'd correctly be safe? Isn't there already legislature protecting such cars? It seems like an awful lot of work to backtrack on already existing legislature!

Thanks for the heads up all around.

Because it is in HIS "Budget Repair Bill", approximately 48,000 words, with tons of hidden garbage, that doesn't affect the "budget" like this.

EDIT: Apparently it is NOT in the bill itself, but I certainly do not have much trust in what else is coming up from the Gov's office...

I sure hope you are wrong, I have an app in there right now for a new Hobbist plate for my 32 roadster. I went directly to the DMV in Janesville this week and came out with a good ***le in hand, but was told that I had to apply to the special vehicles div. for the plate.

Without getting too political, Scott Walker is anything but a "Commie". You guys aren't getting half the information if you think this or you're just plain ignorant.

The original post is stating the WI DMV is proposing this, not the governor. The DMV is run by a bunch of bureaucrats. Although the governor is ultimately responsible for the running of state government you can't expect him to oversee every action of every state department, especially something that affects a small part of society. Right now he's a little busy trying to deal with the budget bill and the 14 Fleebagger senators who refuse to do the job they were elected to do.

The piece of about the Budget Repair Bill having something dealing with vehicle registration, I scanned through the bill with the words "collector", "vehicle", "hobbyist", "replica" and didn't find one reference to any of the words. I didn't have time to read all 144 pages of the do***ent but if someone here has the time you can check it out yourself. If anyone fines reference to vehicle registration please post it here:

Just going by the quote in the original post... yes, it is unconfirmed, and yes, it does not appear to be in the bill (which I suggest examining specifics if you are a WI resident).

Your link appears to be only to the amendments in the Senate bill (I thought 144 pages was a bit short).

Here is the link to the Senate bill, 1342 pages of fun. Search doesn't show anything hobbyist related, but there are some mundane items related to vehicle registration.

"Collective bargaining" is not a "right". "Rights" belong to all, not favored groups of the month club. "Rights" stand on their own. They do not rely on using force to take from some and give to others.

Scott Walker and his ilk should be run out of office. The whole budget repair bill ******** is a scam put together by big business and is an affront to the working people of Wisconsin, including the hot rodders.

    He's an embarasmant to Democracy.

I don't mind paying reasonable fees to plate my vehicles just as long as the fees reflect the use as in how often it'll see the road. In Alberta I can get cl***ic plates cheap but my useage is limited but I can pay for regular plates and drive it whenever wherever the choice is mine.

Get the facts, he's just trying to get our state out of a financial hole our previous union *** kissing governor got us into. Even if he can eliminate collective bargaining the government employees will still be far better off than the average private sector employee.

I agree 110%. If a government employee doesn't like the new deal they can quit and find a job in the real world and find out what it's like to have to pay 50% for their benefits instead of the 12% of the cost for health care and 5% of their income to their pension plan that Walker wants them to contribute.
