I throw my meager contribution into the ring. Not sure how to insert pics in text so you'll just have to follow along via the attached pics below. Here's the back story. I'm cheap. These buckets were given to my dad a few years back and have been taking up space in the shop--no clue what they are, but all I got was the buckets and the rings (the stands are 28 willys overland--fit great on 32 fenders--nice drop with no bar). I figured I'd see what I could do with what I had lying around the shop Pics 1 and 2 are the starting fodder---buckets, rings, and a set of retainer buckets I found--I THINK they were from a 48 Chevy Pickup. Pic 3 show the KISS principle. screw the bucket in and go. Picture 4 shows the first problem--there was a mounting tab for the original lens that needed to be removed (see pics 5 and 6). after removing the tabs still didn't fit right so time to regroup. Pic 7 is where I notched the rim and flattened the mounting flange to recess the sealed beam bucket further into headlight bucket Pics 8 and 9 show test fitting and pic 10 show's where I trimmed the tabs to clear the retainer ring. Pic 11 shows the next problem--the sealed beam unit now sits too far back and is sloppy in the bucket. I considered adding some vacuum line as a seal, but thought I'd test what ended up being the soluntion first--vacuum line costs more than some washers lying around the shop. Pics 12 and 13 show my spacing solution. and 14's almost there. Pics 15 and 16 show the finished product. sealed beam conversion of mystery buckets. total cost just over $20 (two sealed beam headlights, junk buckets lying in the shop, and a handfull of screws). Not bad in my book. Thanks for looking.
