My birthday gift to myself this year came courtesy of my new friend TJ (Nitro-Flattie1) when I picked up a great '27 Touring on an A frame with a '40 Ford V-8 and '39 Merc ******. The vision he had was one I've shared for this project, and I'm moving forward in the same spirit...1940's Lakes style Touring.

My buddy Chuck and I put in a few hours today and got my newly acquired '32 wishbone installed and got to mocking up the Tardel K-member and engine mounts. I didn't manage to take enough good pics, but here are a few to show what we did. Next, getting everything permanently mounted!

Very nice . Keep this build so we all can see.

  4. Phil - Im glad you scored some "32" bones for the front. Its funny you and I both had the same vision for the car when we talked the first time. Im glad it went to a good home. I hope to see it at the Nor-Cal Reliability run next year. I cant wait to see this car driving down the road! :D

Yeah TJ, I'm hoping to get her there too! I'm really trying to get her to an SCTA meet for a "debut." BTW, the Ranchero is really looking good. I can't wait to see that one done.

Ok, update. The indispensable Chuck and I got the Tardel K-member and motor mounts all bolted in. Sorry for the ****py pics.

No pics of the K-member yet.

Now I gotta figure out what to do for shocks. The bolts for the mounts ended up where I think the Houdaille shocks would mount. I may end up having to run tube shocks after all. Any ideas?

    Phil,

It's always a pleasure lending a hand on a good Project, may we send many more days working on her.

Yeah. REmove the motor mounts, weld up the holes in them (and the frame) then sandwich the frame between the Houdailles and the redrilled motor mounts. (may have to add on a corner to the motor mount inner flange...) This will save those pretty Cad plated bolts. too!

Mike- Thanks for that. I was thinking this was what I would have to do since the holes don't match up. I'm still considering cutting up some F1 mounts and going the tube shock route too.

John, been a bit stalled lately. Time's been an issue. I mostly go down and ''play" for a little bit mocking up a seat lol. And showing her off to some of my buddies that just wanna peek.

I managed to get a set of houdailles for her, and I'm working out a scheme to mount them with the Tardel mounts as I posted earlier. Think I might look for a set of Model A bells to steal the spring mounts off for the rear to make it legit. Thanks for that nudge to keep me motivated to get back in gear!

Great project. Have you got any pictures of the whole car? Curious to see it. I've just picked up a 27 Touring body myself. Thanks

Thanks! Unfortunately I haven't done anything with the car since I got my '50 F1. I intended to take some more pics but been lazy I guess. What are you thinking with your Tub?

Trying to decide between an A model frame or a 32 frame. It'll be up on the rails and as short as possible. Maybe an Oldsmobile engine.

I found Nitro Flattie's thread for the car but all of his picture links are gone. Just checking out different set ups.

Hope you get some time for it again! Later - J

For mine the a frame is perfect. If you're gonna run the olds, I'd say deuce rails. I've seen one with that set up and it looked sweet. Hell, deuce rails look good under most early cars!
