I want to drop my '49 Merc from stock height to 3" / 4". What should I be concerned with when doing this as far as component compatability (stock), and how the wheels will fit and operate; how will it affect my turning ability because the tire will be higher in the wheel well, I don't want rubbing when I'm turning or pulling into a lot and have the apron cause the wheel to bottom out on my freshly painted fender or wreck my new wide whites!

You guys have been a godsend with information and suggestions. I hope you'll all come through again with this!

    Thanks alot!

I was looking at Jamco online, they have a lowering kit that seems to cover everything, but it's kinda pricey. I can get drop coils/shocks for a much more affordable price. Is there an issue with just replacing the coils & shocks when it comes to the front end? What have you guys used that works without breaking the bank?

I don't want to heat the coils. I'm crazy, but not stupid...heating the coils makes them brittle and prone to breaking and I don't ever want to go down that road...
