Dont do it! Had 4 wheels shipped from Alabama to Illinois and only 3 arrived.....someone cut through the shrink wrap and lifted one of em! Its not any cheaper than UPS, not any faster, they arent very pleasent to deal with and obviously not very safe! So, dont make the same mistake I did!

  2. Shrinkwrap? Bad packaging. Never had an issue with 15 years of shipping by bus

Bummer, sorry to hear about your bad luck. I have shipped a lot of things on Greyhound with success. It seems like the bigger the item, the better deal it is relative to UPS.

I used to send Greyhound all the time. Last time (3 years ago) I sent a 3-speed Ford tranny to a guy in Georgia, a T86 w/overdrive. Made a special wood crate, had a 3/4" hole in one end for the tip of the pilot shaft. (helped steady the trans in crate, with bulkheads and metal straps to do the rest)
The tranny disappeared somewhere in or just out of New Mexico, they paid the $300 insurance on it, but the buyer had to wait 30 days after the investigation! (thieves must have thought it was a Muncie or rock crusher! Like to have seen their surprise when it was just an old '56 type!)

I miss the 1960s... If you were rich, you just went to one of the local speed shops to buy your part or wheels.

And the rest of us only bought used stuff like wheels from a local seller at high school.

    Life was simple.

..and there really was a lot of used stuff around ...because teens rarely had the money to buy them.
