I have an option of running a super-T 10 with a 342 1st gear or the same transmission with a 242 1st gear. What would be a better option behind a 401 nailhead with a 411 rear gear and 750/16 tires? Would I have much of a 1st gear with the 342? Any thoughts? cm30
I'm fairly sure that 3.42 first with a 4.11 will be a granny low. My ot mustang had 4.10 rear and a 3.35 first, first gear was good for 2-3 feet before you had to shift.
How heavy is your car and how do you intend to run it? Chances are you will be happier with the 2:42 unless it's a dump truck, or you want to roast the tires at will. Mike
It will be in a A roadster, a light car. I would rather have more pep then it being a dog. It is a hotrod so I want to have fun with it!
nailheads are torque motors, so you'll want a tall gear. I'm betting that the 4.11 rear gear will actually make it slower than if it had a higher rear gear. the 2.42 is what your wanting.
