Fellas, after much deliberation, and almost no interest in my 5 window, I've decided to go ahead and finish the build. Which ****s because I have a 49 tudor I really want to drive this summer, but you tight-***es want spend that hard earned money! So, here's my questions:
1- What is the average chop on a 5 window coupe? I've heard between 4-6 inches, but need some input.
2-Also, when chopping this cab is it worth cutting and relocating the back window to keep it full size for driveability? I've seen several where the back window is cut out prior to the haircut and then relocated to set evenly with the other windows.

Your thoughts, helpful advice, criticism, all greatly appreciated.

Might consider your personal height before you cut it too low....
I'm a short little fkr and I have mine cut 3 1/2 inches....top hinge will be just right that way...

The best looking chop on a 5 window, in my opinion, is 2 1/2 to 4 inches. Your avitar looks good for someone else to travel inside. Unless you are very short/small/require no room, a dramatic chop takes a bunch of room out of the inside. Build your seat the way you want. Sit inside and see how much room you are willing to donate. You have to live with the result.

Are you chopping it as a "Keeper" or to sell at a later date? A drastic chop will limit the furure buyers, keep all the cut out bits if someone wants to raise it at a later date.

55Delray...you should edit your ***le or first post to make it obvious that your car is a 32 CHEVY.

When you say "32 5 window" everyones brain makes a distinction between the 5 and 3 window 32 FORDS and your post picks up info for FORD Hot Rods.

The suggestions you get might not directly transfer over to a Chevy body!!! ;)

Yes, the unwritten and unchallenged rule about what "32" means; A "32" is a Ford, a "32 3w" is a Ford, and a "32 5w" is a Ford. All the rest are 32 Chevy, 32 Buick, etc etc.:D

I think a chevy needs a little less of a chop than a ford. My 32 ford is chopped 5.5 inches, but if it were a chevy i would not go over 4. Just my opinion.

Five inch chop is my personal prefference. Enough to give an at***ude but still see out.

Thanks to all ... was not aware of the "32" ford inference, will keep that in mind for future posts. Was thinking of a 4" chop, but I'm also going to channel the body over the frame rails, so I will build my seat first and test before I make my final cut. Wingedexpress has the look I want, but I am going to relocate back window so I don't lose rear sight. Also, am going to try to drop the floor tray between the rails and raise my trans tunnel so I don't lose that 3.5-4" of headroom. I will keep all advised of the progress under the ***le 32 Chevy 5 window project.

I never gave that a thought, but sure enough when I enlarged the photo it is a '32 Chevy! On the other hand 54 is owned by Chrevolet people. :)

Funny you say that 37Kid, I always thought a "shoebox" was a 55 chevy until I joined HAMB. I guess when there is no rule then the oldest car keeps the moniker?

  15. It's a '32 PONTIAC, not a Chevy.

Yes, definately check seat height. For what its worth, my coupe is channeled 4", and chopped 2 1/2". I'm running late 70's Chevy van seats, which are pretty low profile, tracks mounted dead on the floor, and @ 5'7" tall its a pretty good fit, my dad on the other hand @ 6'0" is gonna need a haircut to drive. Check out the pics in my profile.
